Joining Delta Dental means joining a culture focused on fostering development, building genuine connections, recognizing each other's strengths and sharing in successes. -The Senior Commissions Accountant is responsible for managing monthly producer compensation cycles, including the calculation and reconciliation of the compensation, payment related activities, recording and reconciling monthly broker expense and licensing fee journal entries and general ledger accounts and reporting, to ensure timely and accurate payments. The Sr. Accountant will ensure that the company producer compensation payments are in compliance with state and federal regulations and internal policies and procedures. The Sr. Accountant will also provide backup support, perform quality assurance verification and participate in developing and testing system maintenance and enhancements.How you will make an impact:Performs monthly producer compensation calculation, reconciliation and payment trends, identifies, reports and resolves variances, creates commission invoices for payment, and validates, distributes and reconciles paymentsRecords monthly broker expense and licensing fee journal entriesAnalyzes and reconciles general ledger accounts and provides variance reporting to managementResearches and resolves complex or sensitive producer compensation inquiriesFunctions as a team lead and provides direct support to producer management analysts; trains analysts on producer record and relationship management, reconciliation of the calculation of compensation, payments and reportingPrepares, analyzes and reconciles state and federal reporting requirements such as: annual 1099 reconciliation, Form 5500 producer compensation reporting, CA AB 2589, DMHC reporting, etc.; assists with complex inquiries related to state and federal reporting requirementsCollaborates with producer credentialing and contracting team members, state and federal regulatory agencies, partnerships and producers to resolve outstanding commissions as it relates to all lines of businessContributes to monthly management and key performance metrics reporting; prepares ad-hoc management reportsMaintains and updates departmental policies and procedures as it relates to producer compensation in addition to training materials; serves as subject matter expert for all aspects of producer compensation and general ledger reconciliation as it relates to compensationAssists with DOI and external/internal audit requests by compiling and validating informationCreates reports and analyzes data to identify solutions that meet business goals; analyzes current processes and identifies existing or potential problems in order to discover new process improvement opportunitiesPerforms other duties as requested or assignedWhat we look for:2+ years of related commissions accounting experience or 4+ years of general accounting experienceBachelor's degree in Business Administration with coursework in AccountingInsurance and/or healthcare experience is preferredStrong attention to detail and accuracyAdvanced analytical, problem solving and reasoning skills with the ability to formulate and communicate recommendations for improvementProficient in Microsoft applications such as: Excel (Intermediate), Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, TeamsAbility to prioritize work, follow-up on commitments on a timely basis, work under pressure and adhere to deadlinesAbility to work independently while having strong teaming skillsAbility to communicate professionally, clearly and effectively with producers, management, staff and other business partnersKnowledge of policies, procedures and guidelinesAbility to maintain confidentialityStrong knowledge and understanding of producer licensing, credentialing, appointments and compensationStrong knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable and general ledger processes and proceduresBenefits and perks:12 days starting vacation, 12 holidays, 9 sick days and your birthday off!Low-cost premium medical insurance options100% paid dental and vision insuranceGenerous 401(k) matching and flat contributionSocial responsibility and volunteer opportunities, including 16 paid volunteer hours annuallyEmployee LiveWell program, focusing on overall employee well-being.Fertility and diabetes benefitsEmployee discount program: AT&T/Verizon, entertainment, travel, and more!Culture of learning: career development and tuition reimbursementCareer growth: we love promoting from withinDue to COVID-19, there is an even greater demand for flexibility and change.
