DESCRIPTION This position is split between The Office for Education Innovation (EI) and Academic Affairs Finance and Administration (AAFA). The Office for Educational Innovation (EI) is here to help our Campus research, develop, and ultimately implement innovative curriculum and educational programs, whether that takes the form of new courses, new teaching modalities, finding ways to reach new audiences, or whole new program types altogether. EI works with individual faculty, departments, or entire divisions. EI provides trainings, workshops and opportunities to share and shape ideas at an early stage. EI can provide competitive analyses, market research, survey constituents, identify and bring together both internal and external partners, provide project management, budget analysis, and help with identifying funding and support options. Academic Affairs is the largest of the vice chancellor areas at UC San Diego. Led by the Executive Vice Chancellor (EVC), it is comprised of seven academic schools, eight undergraduate colleges, the University Libraries, Division of Extended Studies, and Enrollment Management. The vice chancellor area also includes academic support units, as well as the units under the purview of the Vice Chancellors of Student Affairs and Equity, Diversity & Inclusion. Academic Affairs annually manages expenditures in excess of $1.5B, 3M ASF of space and employs over 13,500 academic, staff and research employees. The Office of the EVC is responsible for policy and procedure communication and implementation, resource administration, training and guidance, and program development for administrators, faculty, and staff within the EVC areas. Provides high-level support to the Associate Vice Chancellor - Educational Innovation (EI) in the planning, appraisal, analysis and implementation of innovative curriculum and education programs. Participates in long- and short-range planning, and advises on complex and important issues affecting EI and/or the campus. Collaborates with partners to coordinate the development, implementation and monitoring of new programs and processes. Develops and implements transition plans as projects are completed to ensure that unit personnel are able to continue managing business processes on an ongoing basis. It is intended for this part of the position to initially require approximately 50% effort with the expectation of increasing to 100% within a two to three-year time period. Provides high-level analytical support to the Director, Financial and Budget Management and other EVC senior management in the areas of complex budget, funding, financial, or academic data, systems and resource projects. Perform complex analyses, determining appropriate data sources, and creating reports used by management for decision-making. It is intended for this part of the position to initially require approximately 50% effort with the expectation of decreasing to 0% within a two to three-year time period.

    • Demonstrated ability to independently comprehend, analyze and interpret complex financial and budgetary data, written policies and procedures and apply concepts, and computer-generated information, and effectively communicate results of analysis to senior management. Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
    • Expert skill in analyzing large quantities of financial and administrative data, summarizing and extracting pertinent data, compiling relevant information in a variety of appropriate formats. Ability to independently gather required information to organize, and perform financial analysis assignments.
    • Proven ability using spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. Expert level computing skills for utilizing word spreadsheet, database, and word processing applications to produce a variety of analyses and reports.
    • Proven ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner. Skill in communicating instructions/procedures in a logical, clear, concise manner to a wide variety of constituents throughout the organization.
    • Proven interpersonal skills with peers throughout the organization; strong service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Proven ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment. SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $59,700 - $124,300 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $28.59 - $59.53 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
