Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARYThe Marketing and Communications
Specialist is an energetic, highly skilled self-starter who thrives
in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This individual has a proven
track record of planning and preparing communication
material—verbal, visual and written. The Marketing and
Communications Specialist has the ability to be fast, accurate and
thoughtful, and can recognize the potential bigger picture and what
is needed to be the most effective in terms of reaching a variety
of audiences. This role supports Pankow to maintain a single,
consistent voice and brand in all of its communications. ESSENTIAL
DUTIES
- Energize Pankow's brand to keep it fresh and relevant in
connection with our Vision, Mission, Values and Strategic
Goals.
- Maintain Pankow's image by overseeing the development and
maintenance of all brand marketing efforts for both external and
internal audiences. JOB SCOPE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPrimary
Accountabilities
- Proposals
- Continuously improve and maintain proposal process and best
practices with Culture and Communications team
- Ensure all proposals have consistent visual identity and
on-point messaging, as determined by corporate-wide standards
- Partner with Director of Culture and Communications and
Operational teams from the beginning of pursuit process to ensure
team unity in strategic messaging through completion
- Collaborate with project teams to provide support in the
facilitation of interview strategy sessions and develop
presentations to empower the team to deliver well-crafted
messages
- Proposals Regional
- Coordinate qualifications, proposal and presentation
preparation activities; oversee and participate hands-on in the
production of all qualifications, proposal and presentation
deliverables
- Coordinate the activities of external marketing resources
(coaching, photography, graphics and technical writing)
- Support writing of proposal sections and cover letters—Work
closely with Preconstruction, Project Management and Operations
personnel in researching and producing "the story"
- Build relationships and work with Proposal Lead in developing
win strategies and proposal preparation plans that address the
client's issues and the RFP/RFQ requirements
- Manage database and accurately catalog company project
data
- Coordinate and develop presentations including strategy
sessions, team meetings, research, design, reproduction, etc.
- Organize post-proposal debrief
- Brand Management
- Maintain Pankow's image by overseeing the development and
maintenance of all brand marketing efforts for both external and
internal audiences
- Able to design and produce a variety of documents within
Pankow's graphic standards
- Monitor quality control of all documents produced from the
Marketing team
- Create/review copy for collateral, such as announcements and
presentations
- Develop content for newsletters, brochures, electronic mailers
and other materials
- Communication
- Support the Director of Culture and Communications to ensure
Pankow maintains a single, consistent voice and brand in all of its
communication in alignment with long-term marketing and
communications plans
- Support the development and reviewing of content and written
materials ensuring well-crafted narrative that reflect a fresh and
up-to-date message to market, i.e. proposal narrative, press
releases, award submittals, presentations, Thought Leadership
(website) and social media
- Provide support on a variety of internal and external
communications projects that support the strategic and operating
goals of the business
- Provide sound advice and effective communication; help deliver
the right messages to the right audiences in the right way at the
right time
- Able to use judgment and discretion in communications,
including the maintaining of confidentiality in oral and written
communicationQUALIFICATIONSEducation/Training
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent of education and experience
sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the
job may be considered
- Degree in English, Journalism, Marketing or Communications
preferredKnowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Strong written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communications skills; must
be comfortable and effective interacting with Executive Leadership
team
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
- Exceptional presentation skills and a high level of comfort
communicating with a variety of audiences
- Demonstrated skills as a writer/editor with knowledge to work
with a wide range of communications vehicles, including video,
PowerPoint, social media tools and electronic publications
- Proficiency in the following software: Adobe Creative Suite,
Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Prezi
- Good listening skills
- Commitment to ongoing learning and professional developmentWork
Experience
- 3+ years of progressively responsible communications
experience
- Must possess the graphic design, critical thinking and
communication skills necessary to help develop and translate
storyboarded ideas into concrete visual and word metaphors
