Job Description Do you have a background in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Teaching Assistance, or Education? Come join a team of passionate, creative individuals at Passport to Learning, Inc Urgent Need Educators, Human Services & Criminal Justice Professionals for part-time or full-time positions in San Lorenzo, Union City, Hayward, or Oakland, CA. PASSPORT TO LEARNING, INC. is seeking qualified individuals to work part-time with the option to work full-time with people who have intellectual disabilities. Candidates residing within 15 miles of one of the specified service areas of Alameda County. Work is conducted in the clients' home environment and in the community to establish positive routines and functional skill development for the enhancement of the clients' daily living skills. Remote work is offered on a client need bases due to COVID-19. The educator/instructor provides training and guidance to clients in a mentor-style relationship for the attainment of personal goals. Other job responsibilities include preparing progress reports, attending staff meetings, training, and client QA meetings. Monthly meetings and training are held at Passport To Learning's regional office in Newark, CA . 80 hours of on-the-job training is provided. Current positions opened now: Independent Living Skills (ILS) Instructor PASSPORT TO LEARNING, INC. (PTL)- Bay Area is dedicated to serving a community of individuals with intellectual disabilities who need assistance in adapting to meet age-specific developmental milestones. Independent Living Skills (ILS) is a functional skills education and support service for individuals with Autism, MMR, Down Syndrome, and other intellectual disabilities to increase their daily living skills at home and in the community. ILS focuses on functional skills instruction to enable individuals with special needs to strive in their community with greater independence. Parenting Support Services (PSS) work one-to-one with 'special need' parents in a mentor-style / instructor relationship to teach parenting skills. The Judicially Involved Support Services (JISS) provide support and guidance to clients in a mentor-style relationship to foster self-esteem and to assist clients in becoming productive and confident members of society. Essential Knowledge, Skills, or Ability: Effective written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of intellectual disability Ability to build rapport with somewhat timid or reluctant individuals Knowledge of how to access social service benefits and community resources Parenting Education Child Development Education (PSS program) Knowledge of the criminal justice system (JISS program) Ability to do report writing to state agencies Proficiency in MS WORD & MS EXCEL Compensation : Starting Salary: $18.00- $30.00 per hour based on qualifications, plus mileage reimbursement. Creative Work Schedules: Days, Evening, and or Weekend hours available. Able to set your schedule to maintain work/life balance. Part-time and Full-time positions are available. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Anticipated completion of an undergraduate degree within one (1) year in one of the following fields: human services, psychology, sociology, education, or a teaching certificate is preferred. (PTL) is dedicated to serving a community of individuals with intellectual disabilities who are in need of assistance in adapting to meet age-specific developmental milestones. PTL's skills and support service programs are age-appropriate functional skills training for individuals with Autism, MMR, Down Syndrome and other intellectual disabilities to increase their daily living skills at home and in the community. PTL's Parenting Support Services (PSS) work one to one with the 'special needs' parent in a mentor-style / instructor relationship for teaching parenting skills. PTL's Judicially Involved Support Services program (JISS) provides support and guidance to clients in a mentor-style relationship to foster self-esteem and to assist clients in becoming productive and positive members of society. Our Independent Living Skills (ILS) Services are one-to-one training to increase functional skills at home and in the community, to pursue academic goals, or to explore employment options.
