Summary of Position -The After-School Part-Time Sports coach designs and teaches basic sports strategies to an assigned group of youth. Their job is to preside over all team activities and to teach valuable sporting skills such as teamwork, fair play, and sportsmanship.
Are open to all sports but currently need coaches in the following areas: Basketball and Soccer. -
Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop daily sports practice/play sessions that incorporate Oakland Leaf's values. -
  • Assists with preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition.
  • Research and implement methods in general and specific coaching procedures, methods, and techniques.
  • Assists as directed with the oversight of athletic training, strength, and conditioning workouts; provides technical support and training to athletes, as appropriate to the sport.
  • Assists in monitoring and supporting student-athletes in academic progress.
  • Attend and coach Saturday games and responsible for relaying all key information to all youth participants.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • Provide TB clearance and background clearance from FBI and DOJ
    • Provide a transcript with at least 48 semester college units or pass the Instructional Aide exam
    • Ability to manage and support a group of 20 middle school students -
    • Commitment to Oakland leaf mission and core values
    • Preferred experience in coaching the specified youth sport -
      Working conditions/physical demands
      • Normal school and office conditions
      • Offsite meetings
      • Required to work some weekends for events
      • Must be able to lift up to 25lb
        Work Schedule and Period
        • Two days week between Monday through Friday, 3 PM to 6:30 PM
        • Saturday Games (times depend on schedule)
        • 180 work days from Monday, August 1, 2022 through Friday, May 27, 2023 excluding school holidays and breaks
          Compensation
          • Starting rate $25 per hour, depending on experience -
          • Additional stipend from OUSD for participating in OAL
