Within the next 10 years, our goal is that every space operation will access resources and energy through our distribution network, enabling a prosperous future in space-starting with the Moon.Wanted: An Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with expertise in designing, implementation, and tuning of robust control system solutions for motion control applications for path-to-flight development tasks. Will be responsible for the generation of requirements, system modeling, component selection, implementation and verification of motor and mechanism control systems.RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Conceives and leads the implementation of highly complex and unique multifunctional control systems from drafting design requirements to final delivery2. Leads the development of detailed models and performs analyses of unique controls equipment, servo systems, and multi-axis drive systems3. Designs and develops advanced control-system algorithms and simulation tools. Performs system analyses, providing system assessments4. Engages in multi-disciplinary vehicle systems investigations and design work that define the systems architecture5. Implements new software or algorithms to enable mission unique capabilities and leading-edge performance6. Analyzes launch trajectories, performance dispersions, and flight stability7. Conducts post-test data review and correlation with analyses for continued improvement of predictions8. Generates requirements for a motion control system including specification of motor, sensor, and controller9. Performs reliability analyses including worst-case analysis and parts stress analysisBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a motion controls implementation-related discipline with a minimum of 6 years of related experience, or Master's degree in similar disciplines with a minimum of 4 years of experience, or Ph.D. in similar disciplines with a minimum of 2 years of experienceExperience with control systems, orbital mechanics, classical dynamics, modeling, and simulationExperience with the software languages Python or C++Ability to model motors and motion control systemsHands-on experience implementing and troubleshooting large scale and/or high-reliability motion control systemsBackground in kinematics and/or mathematically modeling of mechanical systemsExperience in designing controllers using Model Predictive Control, Optimal Control and Adaptive Control theoryDemonstrated selection of sensors, actuators and electro-mechanical designCapable of solving complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated teamPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or controls and motion controls implementation-related discipline related technical subject area with a minimum of 12 years of related experience, or Master's degree in similar disciplines a minimum of 10 years of experience, or Ph.D. in similar disciplines with a minimum of 8 years of experienceDemonstrated project or professional experience in launch vehicle and/or spacecraft systemFamiliarity with space grade memories and interfacesPassion for advancing the commercial space industry and human spaceflightExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal
