Department Overview

The Distribution Electric Asset Strategy Department initiates and plans PG&E's capital and maintenance plans for electric distribution to provide safe, reliable, and affordable service to our customers.

Position Summary

This position is represented by the Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) subject to collective bargaining.

The Senior l evel engineer job requires mastery of the Journey l evel engineer skills and duties . This position will work with other highly qualified strategy and/or reliability engineers in the Electric Distribution Asset Strategy. Asset Strategy is responsible for the strategy of the management of overhead and underground distribution assets for their complete life cycle including, but not limited to, initial installation, maintenance, operations, renewal, and retirement. This team manages asset risk and develops/implements tactical mitigations including, but not limited to, process controls and financial investments for public and employee safety among other business benefits.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The a ssigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.

The annual salary range is:

CA Minimum, $142,908

CA Maximum, $183,600

Job Responsibilities

Asset Strategy and Implementation

  • L ead development, i mplementat i on, and m a n age m ent of a complete asset l i fe cycle and system reliability strategies, plans, and programs including asset installation, maintenance, operat i ons , replacement , and removal.
  • Address and manage emergency issues associated with ass i gned assets .
  • Support , perform or lead , as assigned , root cause ana l ysis . Common To All
    • Acts as a subject matter expert in area of field and app lie s extensive know l edge of concepts, principles, and practices. Develop and provide special i zed training on assets with in areas of expertise .
    • Provide technica l expertise and l ead in imp l ementation of com p lex and l arge- scale projects.
    • Provide support on regulatory, governmenta l, and other th i rd- p ar t y issues . Scope:
      • Resolves problems of complex scope. Ass i gnments may require complex solutions.
      • Works independently with limited feedback from other engineers and manageme n t.
      • Well-developed technical skills and communication skills . Interaction:
        • Work somet im es requires direction from more sen i or engineers and management.
        • Works w it h int erna l and external personne l. External contacts include vendors , PG&E contractors, customers, and regulatory agencies. May include other governmenta l contacts as assigned Qualifications

          Minimum:
          • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering from an accredited curriculum in the US or the equivalent from outside the US
          • 8 years of cumulative experience in electrical engineering, planning and/or operations Desired:
            • BS Degree in other Engineering disciplines (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, etc.) from an accredited curriculum in the US or the equivalent from outside the US are also acceptable
            • Current and active California PE license
            • Project management experience
