The LeidosDepartment of Transportation Enterprise Information Technology Shared Services(EITSS) contract is seeking aNetwork Engineerto support a mature contract with the Department of Transportation (DOT), Maritime Administration (MARAD), and Ready Reserve Force (RRF) Management System (RMS) in support of National Defense Initiatives and Requirements. This team supports the department's office of the Chief Information Officer in developing and implementing an enterprise IT infrastructure and common operating environment across DOT. This position requires approximately 75% travel and involves measurable physical exertion when climbing ladders, gangways, or otherwise working within the restricted confines of spaces aboard ships.As aNetwork Engineer you will:

  • Perform day-to-day activities required to manage data services, utilizing a broad set of tools to design, manage, and maintain all aspects of data networking
  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, end-user workstations, VPN, QoS)
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hotfixes, and security configurations
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
  • Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
  • Support RMS Nautical Systems Enterprise (NSE) aboard ships and associated shoreside support facilities
  • Support ship activations/de-activations, training cruises, and sea trials
  • Participate in ship replication scheduling during sea trials, activations, and training cruises
  • Support NSE training activities aboard ships and at MARAD offices
  • Develop and submit Ship/Site Visit Reports for MARAD review
  • Review technical documentation
  • Utilize superior time management and personal accountability skills to prioritize and complete multiple independent and simultaneous projects.
  • Proactively track recurring tasks, and provide periodic progress updates as required
  • Other duties as assigned.Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a mathematics-intensive discipline or an applicable technical training certificate from an accredited training institution or equivalent.
    • 4+ years of related experience managing data networks and possess advanced skills and knowledge in routing, switching, load balancing, and firewall management.
    • Background check with the ability to obtain a Public Trust.
    • The position requires a COVID vaccination or an approved accommodation/exemption for a disability/medical condition or religious belief.Preferred Qualifications:
      • Active CompTIA A+ desired
      • Active CompTIA Network + desired
      • Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator desired
      • Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team settingCandidate must be a U.S. citizen or green card holder who has resided in the U.S. for at least 3 years and the ability to obtain a public trust.Pay Range:Pay Range $66,300.00 - $102,000.00 - $137,700.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
