About the Job:
Software powers the world, and LaunchDarkly empowers all teams to
deliver and control the best software. We serve hundreds of
billions of feature flags daily, to help teams ship better
software, faster and eliminate risk for companies big and
small.
We're based in downtown Oakland and growing quickly. You'll help us
tackle some of the most challenging engineering problems around,
like delivering feature flags to hundreds of millions of users all
over the world in milliseconds.
You'll participate in monitoring our core systems, developing new
capabilities for our internal engineering teams, as well as
responding to and mitigating incidents.
The core technologies we use daily include Golang, CockroachDB,
ElasticSearch, Redis, HAProxy, Kafka, and Terraform.
Responsibilities:
Develop tools and automation to streamline the deployment and
operation of our infrastructure, and to detect and diagnose
problems quickly and efficiently.
Enable our engineers to deliver their services with higher
autonomy, reliability, performance, and speed through offerings
written in Go and Terraform.
Manage and monitor production systems, including responding to
alerts and incidents, performing root cause analysis, and
implementing corrective actions.
Design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity
plans, and conduct regular testing and exercises.
Analyze performance of SQL queries and suggest improvements and
build guardrails for teams.
Monitor and improve both front-end and back-end performance.
Mentor and train other engineers on site reliability engineering
principles, tools, and processes.
Actively participate in code review
Qualifications:
Comfort with large scale, highly available, distributed systems
Comfort with server-side web development (e.g. in Java / Scala,
Ruby, Python, Golang, Node.js)
Knowledge of RESTful API design
Experience working with a major cloud provider (AWS/Azure/GCP)
Experience with observability tooling (Datadog/Honeycomb/etc)
Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and empathy
You write codethat can be easily understood by others, with an eye
towards maintainability
You have a high bar for quality of code and quality of user
experience
Discipline to be a self directed learner
Pay:
Target pay range for a Level 4 in San Francisco/Bay Area: $165,000
- $195,000*
*Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), health, vision, and dental
insurance, and mental health benefits in addition to salary.
LaunchDarkly operates from a place of high trust and transparency;
