Our technology enables orders of magnitude increases in speed and resolution of climate risk forecasts at a fraction of the cost of traditional approaches. We are working with customers in the insurance and energy industries and have been awarded highly competitive government R&D grants and venture capital to build and scale our technology. Our team has a unique blend of entrepreneurial and frontier research experience at MIT, Stanford, UC Berkeley, NASA, and C3, and deep connections to industry and academic and national labs. Terrafuse seeks a driven, resourceful, and personable business operations professional to assume leadership responsibility of current operations, and to design and implement solutions to allow future organizational growth. This role reports directly to the CEO. We are looking for critical business thinker who desires to implement, own, and lead all business operations functions at an early stage company as we grow. This key role will provide both administrative and operationally strategic direction but is also expected to lead the charge for actual in-the-trenches implementation of the initiatives they create themselves. The ability to hit the ground running, grow quickly, and continue seeking additional responsibility is a necessity for this role. You will be the crucial reference point as we grow and should be comfortable making your voice heard and taking charge as needed. The ideal candidate is innately organized, excited to take on all types of tasks, and willing to be hands-on to keep our company running smoothly. We are a young start-up, so you must be willing to learn and adapt quickly. You will have the opportunity to explore various facets of our company and expand your skill set. About you: * You are curious, a deliberate learner, thoughtful listener, and creative problem solver; * You are headstrong, honest, and confident, with high EQ and strong communication skills; * You derive satisfaction from building sustainable and efficient processes that work long term, rather than short term fixes to individual problems; * You are excited to grow, and have a go-getter personality and a get things done attitude. * You love details and organizing and tracking supplies, events, people, government regulations etc. * You have a passion for new technologies like AI and are determined to do your part in deploying them to address major societal challenges like climate change and the renewable energy transition; * You are not afraid of administrative work, in fact, you enjoy rolling up your sleeves and ensuring key administrative details are properly managed and executed. The Role: Legal and financial management * Keep company operating smoothly by coordinating various back office support systems, including communication, organization, payroll and human resources, accounting, and expense tracking; * Manage bill payment, accounts receivable/invoice generation, expense management; * Oversee process control for government grant applications and management (prepare budgets, compile invoices, keep track of reporting and review timelines, investigate and maintain compliance, etc.); * Manage legal processes related to organizational management; autonomously manage third party legal counsel interactions (i.e. check and verify legal bills). * Be the critical reference point that everyone relies on, coordinating internal communication and documenting and enforcing company work policies, for example, the employee handbook, and company Human Resources wiki pages; * Manage resources, including assessing team objectives /project plans to identify resource gaps; * Manage our internal operational software, and ensure that staff needs and issues are resolved. * Administer performance reviews and company feedback surveys; * Oversee and manage scheduling of meetings, make travel arrangements, purchase supplies; * Help organize and maintain company documents and files across a range of online and offline systems. Team Management * Be the critical reference point that everyone relies on, coordinating internal communication and documenting and enforcing company work policies, for example, the employee handbook, and company Human Resources wiki pages; * Manage resources, including assessing team objectives /project plans to identify resource gaps; * Manage our internal operational software, and ensure that staff needs and issues are resolved. * Administer performance reviews and company feedback surveys; * Oversee and manage scheduling of meetings, make travel arrangements, purchase supplies; * Help organize and maintain company documents and files across a range of online and offline systems. Requirements * Experience scaling through early stages, or a company operating with -100 employees is a plus * Track record of designing, implementing and enforcing operational processes at a tech company; * Crystal clear communication skills - verbal and visual (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.); * Skilled in building and working with spreadsheets; * Excellent written and verbal communications across technical and non-technical stakeholders; * Experience with accounting for Federal Government grants such as SBIR a plus; * Experience presenting to senior executives; * Bachelors degree in a relevant field.
