Job Description:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plays a critical role in aligning the company---s impact strategy and financial sustainability. As a member of the senior leadership team, the CFO will be an advisor to the CEO, Chief Operating Officer, Head of People, Vice Presidents and other company leaders, assisting them with financial planning, economic modeling and ongoing fiscal management. The CFO will be responsible for overseeing all fiscal and fiduciary management of the organization, in conjunction with the board of directors and the finance and audit committees.--The CFO will also steward relationships with external financial partners and vendors and secure and manage the company---s lines of credit.--The CFO will work closely with other members of the senior management team to ensure that the organization maintains and strengthens its financial stability while increasing its programmatic impact. This position will operate on both strategic and functional levels in order to oversee a financial management strategy including supporting activities in each of the company---s regional offices.The CFO will design the annual budgeting process to ensure alignment with goals and focus on financial sustainability, and s/he will also play a key role in developing multi-year strategic plans. This includes working closely with the CEO and other senior leaders to project and manage revenue generation and timing.Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day -to-day accounting and finance functions to ensure timely and accurate financial records.--
  • Manage all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, regulatory requirements and Office of Management and Budget audit requirements. Ensure appropriate internal safeguards are in place and annual audits are coordinated.--
  • Oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period; collate financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants.--
  • Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep the senior management team abreast of company financial status.--
  • Manage cash flow and forecasting, banking relationships and cash positions/strategies.--
  • --Manage annual benefits and insurance renewals, including stewarding vendor relationships.--
  • Design annual budgeting process, including coordinating with 30+ budget managers to align the process with the organization---s annual priorities. Implement budget, report on budget progress both internally and externally, and recommend budget adjustments as needed based on changing conditions.--
  • Maintain efficient and effective internal processes for financial management with a focus on providing high quality customer service to leadership teams across the country.--
  • Oversee the annual audit and tax preparation process, including regular monitoring of financial transactions to meet audit requirements and engaging stakeholder support as necessary to ensure "clean" audit results--
  • Leverage strengths of the current Finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.--
  • Work with the COO to ensure that national teams are properly supported and that staffing structures are efficient and effective.
  • Recommend changes to the company---s business model to enhance programmatic impact and strengthen the organization---s financial position.--
  • Manage administrative functions including real estate negotiations, risk management, legal counsel as necessary, review of annual revision of MOUs, and insurance coverages.
  • Ensure compliance with all annual filing requirements.Candidate Profile:-- -- --Professional Experience:
    • 10+ years of experience in finance, preferably within a national multi-site nonprofit organization.--
    • Proven leadership, strategy, management and organizational skills, particularly while working within a fast-paced organization.--
    • Hands-on financial leader with experience managing the finance function (accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting) within a diverse, division-based entity.--
    • Knowledge of GAAP accounting rules and practices, experience with non-profit finance and/or accounting, including fund accounting and managing restricted revenue strongly preferred.--
    • Strong revenue recognition experience and knowledge of how expenses are allocated to grants; prior experience with government grants preferred.--
    • Deep financial analysis experience and some history with proposing structural changes to enhance an organization---s financial sustainability.--
    • Strong financial modeling skills; willing to do analysis and modeling around cost and pricing.--
    • Technology savvy with experience; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software, esp. Sage Intacct, Salesforce, Concur, and Adaptive Insights. Expert level Excel knowledge.--
    • Supervisory experience of accounting teams, including grants managers.--
    • Proven experience partnering with HR and operations staff to manage critical organizational functions.--
