Wholesale Planning Manager

Job Description:

The role of the Wholesale Planning Manager is to create a consolidated product-level demand forecast across all Wholesale businesses, validate forecasts against historical or current trends, and refine forecasts with input from Sales, Marketing, and Finance. This position will also review the sales and inventory information from key retailers in order to anticipate future orders or communicate risks to their business via emails or in-person business review meetings. Additionally, this position will be responsible for helping create top-level financial plans with Sales and the Director of Planning to assist Finance in creating an annual operating plan.

The Wholesale Planning Manager will also be responsible for assessing inventory levels for the Wholesale business and placing PO's to support the demand plan, track on-time delivery of the product to DC's, ensure FOB orders will ship on time, assess and report on inventory health for the Wholesale business and communicate stock position to Sales, Finance, Operations, and Leadership.

The Manager will partner with the Director of Planning to create and present weekly and monthly meeting presentations, including weekly sales and inventory review meetings, monthly demand review meetings with Sales, and monthly Sales and Operations Planning meetings. The manager will also spearhead the development of an open-to-buy process and tools in order to manage inventory health for the Wholesale business.

The Manager will partner with the Director of Planning to create best-in-class planning tools and reports to manage and report the business as well as help formulate the weekly, monthly and annual planning process within the organization.

The Manager must possess advanced sales forecasting and inventory management skills in order to support the Wholesale business. This role also requires proactive communication to Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations in order to keep all key business partners informed of risks and opportunities in obtaining the company's financial goals. This role will also require the Manager to present the brand in a business meeting with our customers, and the ideal candidate will have impeccable professional communication skills and confidence to present their opinions clearly and factually.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4+ years of Demand Planning and/or Inventory Management experience in a consumer goods industry
  • Experience planning for wholesale businesses such as department stores, mass retailers, sporting goods and hunting retailers, and online retailers.
  • Ability to drive advancement in creating better forecasting models, including accessing retailers' business portals to harvest sell in and sell through information
  • Proactively make assortment recommendations to Sales and to retailers in order to optimize the Wholesale business while utilizing available inventory
  • Experience presenting financial forecast and inventory sell-through analysis to Management

    Key business KPI's this position will be measured against include:
    • MAPE
    • Forecast attainment
    • Annual inventory turns
    • Excess and obsolete inventory management
    • Order fill rates/on-time delivery (OTIF)
