Job Description:

The Accounting Manager position manages Brown & Toland Physicians (BTP) accounting department. The position is responsible for the monthly accounting close, financial reporting for the parent company, and its subsidiaries. The Accounting Manager will report to and work directly with the Controller. Essential Fun ctions Oversees all aspects of the financial accounting process including general ledger maintenance; journal entry review monthly close; balance sheet reconciliation; financial reporting, and budget variance analysis for all BTP entities Responsible for hierarchy and scalability in chart of accounts and accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements and has ultimate authority over classification and booking of all transactions Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies Assists Controller in coordinating the annual budget process Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed and establishes the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud through highly structured internal controls Key Skills Strong and demonstrated working knowledge of GAAP and accounting skills Highly analytical and ability to evaluate complex accounting and financial data with limited supervision Self-motivated and proactive team player who works independently and takes ownership of and accountability for assigned tasks Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneo usly Highly detail oriented Managem ent This position has employee management responsibilities Qualifications Educati on Ba chelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or related field of study Preferred Edu cation N/A Experie nce 7+ years professional experience working in Accounting role requiring use and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Demonstrated growth and success in comparable role Management experience strongly preferred Preferred Expe rience 10+ years professional experience in and 2+ years' experience as manager of Accounting team Preferably experience working in healthcare setting, ideally with IPA or Medical Grou p Required Certifi cations N/A CPA Preferred Certifi cations Compete ncy Leve l Descripti on Seeks input and collaboration from key internal and external stakeholders Core Manag er within and outside the organization Actively incorporates Team Member's input Gains trust and support of Team Members on operational initiatives The Team he/she leads, regularly meet performance targets Follows though; holds Team Members accountable for performance and quality outcomes Sets solid targets for operational area Listens carefully and attentively to Team Members and conveys genuine interes t Makes each Team Member feel his/her contributions are important Contributes to a work climate where differences are valued and Acts fairly despite conflicting demands - seeks leadership assistance when unsure how to resolve Presents truthful information, even if not favorable to the organization or self Acts fairly despite conflicting demands - seeks leadership assistance when unsure how to resolve Manag er Manag er Compass ion Integri ty Manag er Thinks about new ways to do the job better and involves Team members in thinking about new ways Takes initiatives to lead the implementation of new ways to do the job Helps Team Members think about different wats to work - supports new ideas from Team Members Manag er Work Dimensions Level Factor Scope & Impact Requirement (direct from leveling guide) Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established Work Dimension -- Knowledge & Skill Complexi ty Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/o r Interacti on Manages the coordination of the activities of a department Supervis ion Experie nce -- Physical Requirements and Work Environment The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
