(BHI) is a well-respected nonprofit mental health agency with multiple sites in Alameda County and an operating budget of $10 million. It was founded in 1971. BHI is also a social rehabilitation agency providing a full range of Medi-Cal services to adults with co-occurring serious mental health and substance use disorders.     The first of its kind in Alameda County, the Community Assessment and Transport Team (CATT) Program was developed in collaboration with Alameda County Behavioral Health Services, Alameda County Emergency Medical Services, Falck Ambulance Company and Bonita House, to provide assessment, crisis management, transportation and referral as appropriate to individuals presenting behavioral emergencies in the community. CATT is comprised of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and a Behavioral Health Clinician who respond to calls of suicide and self-harm in public settings including assisting individuals who present as disoriented, delusional and/or exhibiting symptoms of intoxication. In addition to behavioral health assessment and de-escalation, the CATT EMT is qualified to provide basic medical treatment (such as wound care, prevention of infection) to reduce the need for hospitalization care and decrease the chances of furthering mental health decompensation. Position Summary: Under the general direction of the Program Director, the Program Manager is responsible for assisting the Program Director by serving as the day-to-day team leader of the clinical team including informing and coordinating in real-time clinical and operational activities. The Manager also works to implement high level strategic initiatives as directed to, and train new and existing clinicians in the best practices and procedures for in-field services Required Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will be experienced in the field of crisis management; committed to the practices and principles of Pro-Act crisis intervention techniques and experienced in working with a highly diverse community.
  • Is experienced as a Crisis Clinician in rapid screening and assessment, DSM5 Diagnosis and works effectively and efficiently in stressful situations.
  • Ability to create and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders including Alameda County Behavioral Health (ACBH), Emergency Management Services (EMS), FALCK, Law Enforcement, Hospital and other CBO personnel.
  • Must be an unrestricted California Licensed mental health provider in good standing, (e.g., LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, Ph.D./PsyD) with at least 2 years of clinical experience providing assessment, psychotherapy, and clinical consultation services in a community-based setting.
  • Must have experience with Electronic Health Record systems (e.g., Welligent, Clinicians Gateway, Reddinet)
    • Must demonstrate an ability to work both independently and as a member of CATT.
    • Must utilize strong problem solving, critical thinking and organization skills with the ability to maintain these competencies under pressure.
    • The ability to prioritize effectively and adapt to a myriad of variables while maintaining clinical, ethical and program standards.
    • Maintains professionalism during moments of crisis and stress and can deescalate situations (both clinical and operational) or escalate to leadership when needed timely.
    • Solid written skills to meet the required standards of documentation.
      • Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills as well as presentation skills.
      • Must comply with all legal and ethical mandates including child and elder abuse reporting, HIPPA, PHI and PII.
      • Must be able to meet the Immigration Reform Act of 1986 requirements.
      • Must have valid California Driver's License and a driving record acceptable by the Agency's insurance company. Essential Functions/Skills:
        • Coordinate day-to-day operations and communications for line staff including changes to scheduling, coverage issues, team configuration, and unit availability.
        • Liaison regularly between stakeholders to problem-solve in real-time, then identify pro-active approaches to resolving issues. Likely resolution opportunities lie between clinicians and EMTs; teams and PD; EMS/Falck and Bonita House Leadership.
        • Act as the clinical point person for front line staff including providing guidance on crisis intervention, diagnosis, and disposition.
        • Coordinate and facilitate CATT new hire training and participate in staff recruitment activities including the initial interview process, on-boarding readiness and training.
          • Assist CATT leadership in developing and facilitating community development activities, trainings, and stakeholder presentations
          • Work a schedule CATT shift with EMT partner in the field.
          • Understands Bonita House's strategic vision and finds ways to implement and execute the vision at the treatment services level.
          • Perform other clinical duties assigned by the Director of Crisis Services The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
