Title: Human Resources Manager -
Reports to: - COO
Based at: Cream Co. Meats - Oakland, CA
Job purpose:
The Human Resources Manager is the primary individual responsible
for Cream Co. staff, including staffing levels, hiring,
termination, benefits, reviews, and all people related matters that
transpire at Cream Co. The HR Manager will understand intimately
the budgetary goals, funding levels, hiring and growth plans, as
well as the benefits, policies, processes, and data points as it
regards the workforce. The HR Manager will also be the Cultural
Standard Bearer, carrying forth and exemplifying the Cream Co
Culture, both personifying proper behaviors, as well as coaching,
training, and helping everyone to learn our culture.
Key Roles - responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Responsible primarily for all staff at Cream Co., outside of
operational deliverables.
- This includes the performance, satisfaction, discipline,
onboarding and off-boarding process for all individuals.
- Particular emphasis on the hiring of hourly roles, posting job
descriptions, responding to applications, interviewing, and all
matters related to hiring & onboarding
- Research and maintain a library of materials related to HR
practices and policies, keeping Cream Co. compliant in all HR
matters
- Help plan and execute all company events and parties
- Carry out Cream Co.'s employee review process, from onboarding,
through the provisional period, to quarterly reviews, and
off-boarding when necessary
- Coach and train on professional interaction, being present in
the workplace to address and mentor as needed.
- Step in when tempers run high, to diffuse and build on
stressful events that occur in the workplace
- Prepare and complete any necessary training and administrative
work that impacts the team directly, including
- Weekly trainings
- Timecard and record reviews
- Time off and other relevant payroll reporting
- Time reporting solutions, security & visitor policies
- Break times, break areas, and other state and federally
mandated reporting requirements
- Understand and develop employee benefits packages, balancing
both the company resources, and maximizing the employee benefit
impact. This could include decisions regarding:
- Health care
- Bonuses
- On-boarding Swag
- Holiday Policies
- Parties & Events
- Develop, document, and maintain company policies and manual,
including but not limited to:
- Job descriptions
- Employee handbook
- Benefits Packages
- Organizational Chart
- Contact Sheets

- Vast experience in the California / Bay Area HR marketplace,
and how to find and attract talent
- Business minded, and ability to balance budgets, manage
spreadsheets, and document interactions

- Ability to develop and implement systems which strengthen the
organization
- Ability to stay calm in the face of difficult and stressful
situations
- Ability to quickly & decisively take action under time

corrective actions, and instruct their implementation before they
cause significant damage or incur unreasonable cost or
liability

situations. Furthermore, implementing corrective actions to reduce
or eliminate future risks
Skills, Certifications, & Experience
- Bilingual English & Spanish, spoken and written
- BA in Human resources, or similar
- SHRM-CP or PHR/SPHR desired
- 3+ years experience in Human Resources desired
- 1+ years experience in Food, Agriculture, or Restaurant
desired
