We create a place for every kid on the playground to feel included, be active, and build valuable social and emotional skills by partnering with schools, districts, and after-school programs through services including digital engagement, on-site coaches, professional training for school staff who support play, and consultative partnerships.ABOUT THE POSITION, the Email Marketing and Automation Manager is a fully remote role that will work in collaboration with the Playworks Marketing team to create and execute on an email marketing strategy and ensure a high-quality experience of Playworks emails for our community. This includes building and sending emails, audience segmentation and targeting, testing and reporting, providing user training and support, supporting email policies and best practices, and quality assurance of Marketo, the marketing automation tool. This is a remote position located within the United States.In this role, you will:

  • Lead Playworks' adoption and utilization of marketing automation tools. Execute journeys and automations using Marketo to create email series, nurture programs, one-off emails, and support multi-channel experiences. Assist with segmentation, list management, and lead nurturing processes within the marketing automation tool and support the integration of Marketo with Salesforce and other programs as needed.
  • Onboard, train, and support users. Onboard and train staff users on the marketing automation tool. Provide ongoing support for national and regional staff. Work across departments and vendors to resolve issues.
  • Write, produce, and send emails. Design and craft the copy of emails to brand standards. Create, test, and send personalized email campaigns from the marketing automation tool.
  • Support the development of new campaigns. Execute all aspects of marketing automation tool support required to support emerging opportunities.
  • Analyze and monitor data. Build and monitor reports for tracking key metrics. Re-energize programs that have been on hiatus. Provide recommendations to enhance programs to key stakeholders. Balance internal and external insights, quantitative and qualitative data, and implement iterative changes to improve results.
  • Assist with the implementation of email policies and best practices. Assist with quality assurance (QA), policy and legal adherence, and brand standards pertaining to executing email campaigns in the marketing automation tool.
  • Monitor email list health. Produce reports for individual emails and overall email program performance. Maintain a healthy email list through regular list hygiene and monitoring email frequency, inbox placement/spam flags, and other deliverability criteria. Lead others in data audits of Salesforce fields built for marketing purposes.
  • Influence existing and future digital product development. Playworks has built digital products collaboratively across teams. This role will support the development of onboarding and offboarding practices, content development, content distribution, and planning of product iterations.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.The successful candidate must have the following skills and experience:
    • Technical skills. Marketing automation experience required. Prior experience with Marketo and Salesforce strongly preferred, or extensive experience across multiple email marketing systems and/or CRMs. Strong interpersonal and technical skills and the ability to use those skills to patiently and effectively train staff on email systems and best practices. You must have a motivation to learn new skills and keep up with evolving technology and best practices.
    • Customer service skills and knowledge sharing. This job involves answering questions, digging up information, and being responsive to requests. You enjoy helping others learn by creating and sharing knowledge, solutions, and helpful tips and best practices. You will be successful if you take joy from helping others accomplish tasks and solve problems.
    • Project management skills. Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work on multiple projects simultaneously. You are comfortable using processes to help organize the work, reduce complexity, and work with a team on project planning and implementation.
    • Attention to process and detail. Ability to analyze data, systems, processes, and documentation to identify errors. Ability to provide support and retraining where needed.
    • Communication skills. You are comfortable writing for sales, fundraising, and other public-facing materials in a brand's voice. You have experience editing the work of others (for grammar and to enhance the quality of the content for the audience) and providing feedback.

You are willing to commit to bringing your most authentic, vulnerable self to Playworks as we collectively continue our journey to becoming an anti-racist organization.The strongest candidates will also demonstrate the following experience, skills and competencies:
      • Experience using a marketing automation tool required. Marketo and Salesforce experience preferred. Certifications including Marketo Engaged Certified Professional/Associate or certification from HubSpot, Pardot, or Salesforce Marketing Cloud a plus.
      • Strong knowledge of current digital and email marketing industry best practices and challenges.
      • Relevant experience with segmentation and analysis, including database queries and reporting tools. Experience with customer service or client support is a plus.
      • Ability to solve problems with ambiguity, provide recommendations on production within the marketing ecosystem, and demonstrable expertise leading the adoption of marketing automation tools.
      • Demonstrable experience training non-technical users is preferred.
      • Experience with A/B and other forms of testing.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication.
      • Experience working as a remote worker in a distributed organization with virtual meetings, video conferencing, and collaborative spaces.
      • Knowledge of HTML and forms a plus.
