Your Role

The Talent Mobility team defines integrated, scalable, and repeatable systems that support employee mobility in alignment with the People Strategy and evolving business needs. The Internship Program Manager will report to the Talent Mobility Senior Manager. In this role you will be leading the internship/fellowship programs of 50+ interns across all lines of business. This includes, but not limited to, the following key deliverables: partnering with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion on candidate sourcing, partnering with Talent Acquisition in the recruitment process, execute an onboarding process, partner with interns and hiring managers to create a positive internship experience, partner with intern manager to conduct performance reviews, partner with Organizational Development and Learning in curriculum design, aid in converting interns to full time talent, partner with Employer Brand in marketing the program, and work closely with external partners in developing fellowship programs.

Your Work

  • In this role, you will:
  • Partner to execute short- and long-range strategic plans for effective development, engagement, and utilization of human resources
  • Partner to execute practices, processes and programs that enable the company's talent strategy
  • Partner to execute the organization's training and development strategy so that the skills, capabilities, and performance of employees meet the organization's current and future needs
  • Partner to execute all training and development activities in an efficient, and cost-effective manner
  • Partner with business leaders, HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and broader Talent and Learning teams to effectively mobilize top internal talent and achieve talent-related people strategy and human capital commitments for their respective business units
  • Interview and serve as stakeholder in the selection of top internal and external pipeline participants
  • Serve as subject matter expert on one or more programs to institutionalize, ensure continuity and scale each program across the enterprise
  • High touch people management, including effective selection, coaching, deselection if necessary, and mentoring with high care and concern for the learning cohort; goal setting, monitoring progress to coals and prioritization
  • Create a winning team culture, bring a work ethic and personal value set to the team that is positive, collaborative, accountable, thoughtful, and focused on the collective results and shared win versus individual accomplishments
  • Disciplined project management, including setting and achieving project schedules, effectively leading project team of colleagues and partners, operating with discipline and operational excellence, detailed documentation of program, effectively communicating for mutual understanding, and delivering to program goals at or below budget target
  • Synthesize large amounts of data from disparate sources to make meaning and deliver compelling business cases through storytelling, visualizations and other influencing tools
  • Assist in the creation and deployment of learning and development programs to drive capability enhancements in our current workforce, preparing Blue Shield for the future of work
  • Monitoring and analyzing the effectiveness of the programs, quickly diagnosing opportunities, and making recommendations for continuous improvement to enhance value and sustainability
  • Strong partnership with Talent Acquisition to recruit, onboard, and offboard while creating a high touch experience for incoming intern talent


    Your Knowledge and Experience

    • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
    • Requires at least 5 years of prior relevant experience
    • Demonstrate ability to strategize, communicate and build alignment on concepts from ideation to execution
    • Strong abilities to influence, collaborate, and build relationships with executives, key stakeholders, colleagues, and cross-functional teams in a highly matrixed organization
    • Experience developing process maps, business requirements, proposals, tactical plans, presentations, etc.
    • Ability to assess potential opportunities, risks, and issues, and make recommendations to resolve or course-correct, as necessary.
    • 2-5 years of Talent Management/Human Resources (or related) experienced required
    • Adept at handling highly confidential information
