Position Summary
Under the supervision of the VyncaCare Chief Medical Officer, oversees the administration of patient care and provider services. Responsible for the implementation and oversight of an integrated clinical practice delivery model. Directly supervises physicians/NPs and collaborates with other clinical/medical managers to ensure a high standard of clinical delivery across patient care specialties within the organization. Provides and manages direct health care for a specified patient population.

Essential Job Duties/ Responsibilities
1. Clinical Responsibilities
Provides palliative care, primarily through virtual visits, and follows the clinical responsibilities as laid out by the job description for the palliative care physician.
Directs, coordinates, and oversees patient care within the company; provides supervision, mentoring, training and development to provider staff
Reviews, establishes, and maintains patient care protocol and standards in coordination with the CMO and VP of clinical services, ensuring that all federal and State policies, regulations, and guidelines for patient care are met; establishes and coordinates quality improvement, safety, and infection control programs.
Participates in development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and objectives as it relates to provider services; develops tracking and evaluation programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
Collaborates with other clinical/medical managers in the delivery of quality patient care, maintenance of clinical documentation, integration of electronic health records, and handling of complaints and/or medical emergencies.
Creates education, development and team-building opportunities for providers.
2. General Management Responsibilities
Maintains patient statistics and comprehensive patient records, providing data and reports as required to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
Develops tracking and evaluation programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
Directs, coordinates, and oversees patient care within the company; provides supervision, mentoring, training and development to provider staff.
3. Professional/Personal Development Commitment
Collaborates with other clinical staff to devise a personal development plan in line with the business objectives and personal needs.
To maintain and increase personal, clinical and project management skills.
4. Medical Director Duties (additional)
Ensure that medical services and related policies meet best standards of practice and are compliant with all state, federal, and local laws, ethical and professional guidelines, and accreditation standards.
Provide guidance to Clinical Director, Director of Compliance, Associate Medical Directors (if any) and all clinical staff for timely decision making with respect to patient care.
Review and approve policies that require medical oversight.
Provide backup on-call services when needed.
Review and support updates to clinical job descriptions.
Refine and provide on-boarding training to new physicians for medical record and clinical visits.
Provide direction to the clinical team on staff and community communication procedures to ensure proper and timely sharing of information.
Ensure all providers complete records in a timely manner.
Help to address any communication issues with physician team members and other staff to ensure effective business operations.
Monitor physician performance with support from HR in evaluation tracking.
Participate in peer review, chart review and Quality Assurance activities, medical staff meetings, case reviews and in-house clinical training sessions.
Directly supervises and supports all Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (NP/PA), ensuring they perform their duties appropriately.
Develops clinical employee education and professional development, as well as team-building opportunities for all providers.
Collaborates with other clinical/medical managers in the delivery of quality patient care, maintenance of clinical documentation, integration of electronic health records, and handling of complaints and/or medical emergencies.
Essential Organizational duties
Works at all times within the policies and guidelines of the company
Willingness to use video conferencing as frequently as appropriate
Ensures effective use of resources
Plays an active part in the development and maintenance of good relationships with all who have business with the Company
Respects at all times the confidentiality of information covering patients, staff and volunteers and is HIPAA compliant
Promotes the company's philosophy of compassionate communication towards all patients, relatives, visitors and coworkers
Environmental Conditions and Physical Requirements
Occasionally performs procedures or other tasks that could involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or other potentially infectious materials
Works with palliative care patients wherever they reside or are receiving care, including homes, skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, residential care homes and transitional housing facilities
Provides own transportation
Successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position through the use of physical activities as described below: Regularly requires sitting, standing, walking, talking, use of hands, listening, and observing
Regularly requires independent travel, sometimes to remote areas
Regularly requires working at a computer for 6-8 hours at a time
Regularly requires use of telephone
Requires use of video-conferencing technology
Occasionally requires reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and lifting items weighing 25 pounds or less

Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Possession of a valid and relevant California professional license to practice medicine
Ability and willingness to license in other states in accordance with company needs
Current American Board of Specialties (ABMS) eligibility appropriate to assigned duties/board certified not later than two years after date of hire
Possession of a valid DEA certificate
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of current recognized standards of care within the scope of licensure.
Demonstrated ability to practice medicine
Must have general computer skills and a working knowledge and proficiency with the internet, the ability to independently learn and use Google Suite, the ability to use video conferencing software, ability to learn and enter data into new software including complex electronic medical records system.
Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities working with a diverse patient population.
Thorough knowledge of applicable State and Federal laws and regulations.
Ability to multi-task including rapidly switching from a task to handle emergent situations and returning to previous work.
Must be able to work occasionally beyond normal hours as needed to complete projects or cases.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
Previous management of people and teams
Computer literacy with experience in electronic medical records (EMR)
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Positive interpersonal skills demonstrated through consistently clear, cordial, timely, constructive, and focused communications
Knowledge of palliative care or a closely related field (home health, critical care, hospice, etc.)
