About GO Public Schools - is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that undertakes policy advocacy and public education efforts. Donations to GO Public Schools are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. -GO Public Schools is a multi-city organization of local networks, working with families, educators, and community members to create schools driven by the needs of students today-not by practices and structures designed for schools of the past. Currently, GO supports networks of leaders in the Fresno, Oakland, and West Contra Costa communities through both GO Public - Schools (a 501c3) and GO Public Schools Advocates (a 501c4). GO envisions a day when schools prepare all children for success in our rapidly evolving world, creating an equitable path to opportunity in our communities. -GO develops leadership at every level-families, educators, school boards, district leaders and grasstops. These leaders inform and develop community visions for student success, and they shape, demand, and win system changes that improve student learning. Over the next ten years, GO plans to scale its impact significantly, growing its multi-city organization of local networks and overall state platform - impacting 500,000 students by 2030 and fully leveraging the strength of local GO sites to create significant state-level policy and political wins. - -About the Position -The Director of Development is an integral part of GO's central team and is responsible for GO's development department, which currently consists of the Director and a Manager of Development along with strategic support from an outside consulting firm. This person is charged with driving the development and implementation of strategic plans to raise funds, cultivate new donors and revenue streams, and manage their direct report, the Manager of Development, to ensure efficiency and accuracy in reporting and data analysis.The Director of Development is a skilled fundraiser, able to cultivate and own funder relationships. The ideal candidate will work with the senior leadership team, governing boards, and staff to implement the organization's refreshed vision and direction under the leadership of GO's recently appointed CEO, Darcel Sanders. The Director of Development should have proven experience as a fundraising and organizational development specialist, with several years of management experience in a non-profit organization or similar environment. You must be motivated, have the ability to solve complex problems, and have a passion for public schools.This is a full time, exempt position that reports directly to the CEO. The Director of Development will also work in close collaboration with GO's Executive Directors (EDs) and Board fundraising committees as well as many others across the organization to promote a culture of philanthropy within the organization and increase GO staff's capacity to interact with various funders and funding entities. -This is a remote position. The candidate must reside in California with access to the Oakland, Fresno and West Contra Costa communities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESDevelopment Strategy and Planning

Refine and execute GO's fundraising strategy in pursuit of an annual fundraising goal of -$3.75M (GO's annual fundraising goal will likely increase in support of programmatic growth)Develop and implement a plan to diversify GO's funding streams including expanding fundraising from foundations and building out an individual giving planDevelop and maintain engagement plans and ongoing relationships with existing major donors and funding entitiesGet creative about identifying prospective individual and corporate donors and develop strategies to cultivate those relationshipsOwn a portfolio of donors including cultivation, asking for funding and stewardshipCo-own a portfolio of donors in partnership with the CEO and regional executive directorsKeep informed of developments in philanthropy and fund development as well as the public schools landscape in CaliforniaHelp develop a balanced funding mix of donor sources and solicitation programs tailored to the needs of the organization that will enable it to attract, retain and motivate donors and funding entities -Internal Capacity Development
Lateral and upwards management of organization's leadership:
Partner with the CEO, - three regional executive director, and board members to strategize and execute against fundraising goalsHelp refine GO's story to create a compelling narrative for potential funders and help advance GO's workTrain and coach GO's three regional executive directors to increase their capacity to engage in fundraising activities and relationship building in partnership with our fundraising firmWork with the Manager of Development to prep materials and staff when engaging potential funders and funding entities Setting vision for and creating development communications:
Lead preparation for and development of materials for CEO and/or multi-site donor meetings/pitches - -Lead development of proposals, reports, concept papers, etc. for general operating and state-level supportReview and provide expert feedback on all local grant proposals, reports, and other donor-facing communicationsIn partnership with Director of Communications and Development Manager, lead the planning and creation of ongoing communications to the CEO's email listTeam Leadership
Supervise the Manager of Development to:
Ensure timely and accurate data entry -Deliver on reporting to internal staff (CEO, EDs, etc.), the Boards of Directors, funders, and funding entitiesMaintain ongoing communications with all donors and fundersManage grant proposal and reporting timelinesCoach the Manager of Development to advance their skills and ability to engage funders and funding entitiesCANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS - -Mindsets and Skills -

Bachelor's degree required5+ years of fundraising related professional experience3+ years of experience in managing projects and teams.Experience building and executing fundraising campaigns in either institutional giving or individual giving (both preferred)Experience partnering with senior leaders and board members to meet revenue targets and to deepen stakeholder engagement in an organization. -High degree of self-motivation and initiative, with the ability to prioritize, take the lead on major relationships, and follow projects through to completion. -Knowledge of and connections to the education funding community in California and/or nationallyDemonstrated commitment to accountability, measuring outcomes and a results-oriented cultureStrong interpersonal, decision-making, and management skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Analytical thinking and ability to analyze data.Openness to participating in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programming in the workplace requiredFundraising software and tools expertise (Salesforce preferred)Proficient in Microsoft Office and G Suite.Occasional travel required.LOCATION, COMPENSATION, AND BENEFITS - -This position is currently work from home. Employees must reside in the state of California; living within the geographic footprint of our existing sites is preferred. Regular travel to our offices once fully reopened and cities with a critical mass of GO employees is required as needed for fundraising work and full organization programming. Note: all of our staff are currently working either a hybrid or fully remote schedule due to COVID-19; this position will start as remote regardless of location.This position is exempt, with an annual salary of $98,440 - $120,315, depending on experience and geographic location. GO leverages an equity based compensation structure that benchmarks salary by staff location into three tiers: Low, Medium, and High cost of labor geographies within our state. We publish our mid level cost tier and adjust up or down accordingly based on hired staff location. In addition, an above-market comprehensive benefits package is offered, including:Healthcare -
