Battery Lab Equipment Engineer is responsible for designing and/or
modifying equipment in the battery technology lab. This role
focuses on enhancing safety features, improving operational
performance, building automation processes for the test lab. The
position ensures equipment is well-maintained to meet quality
standards with the support of the compliance engineering team. This
role collaborates closely with lab specialists and test engineers
to ensure the equipment achieves top-notch performance.What you can
do:
- Design and build/modify different tools/fixtures to support
different testing purposes from materials level, battery cell
level, battery module level to HV battery pack level in battery
technology labs
- Responsible for procurement, setting up, managing, maintaining,
and calibrating mechanical, electrical, and computer equipment in
EE lab, ME lab, chemical lab, and machine shop
- Collaborate with lab specialists and test engineers to design
and integrate additional safety features on lab equipment to
enhance lab safety standards
- Collaborate with lab managers and compliance engineers to
create documents and to ensure AMS and QMS guidelines are
followed
- Responsible for solving equipment related issues
- Develop processes and procedures to automate testing activities
in battery technology labs
- May require up to 10% of domestic and international
travels
- Other duties as assignedWhat you can contribute:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, aeronautical or
related field
- A minimum 1-3 years of experience in battery testing, battery
lab equipment building, and maintaining (a combination of education
and experience will be considered)
- Experience with high voltage systems, along with high-voltage
safety training
- Experience working in a machine shop
- Experience with CAD tools, preferably CATIA
- Experience with both mechanical and electrical designs and
builds
- Experience working and modifying computer devices.
- Knowledge of IT networking and infrastructure
- Good root causes analytical skills to identify and to resolve
maintenance issues with equipment
- Knowledge of safety hazards of working with and electrical and
mechanical testing of lithium-ion batteries
- Demonstrated experience in building a battery lab: equipment
purchase, installation
- Frequently required to use hand and finger dexterity
- Occasional: Bending, kneeling, squatting, standing, walking,
reaching, overhead reaching, and fine motor skills
- Occasional heavy lifting up to 30 to 50Ibs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Must have the ability to independently prioritize and
accomplish work within time constraints
- Self-motivated and forward-thinking personalityYou may also be

- Master's degree in a related engineering field preferred
- Experience with using a scripting language like Python for
