Working at WestCoast Children's Clinic means being part of an organization that is client-centered, trauma-informed, collaborative, and committed to justice and equity.Staff Psychologist (Postdoc Level)WestCoast Children's Clinic is seeking skilled Mental Health Clinicians at the post-doc level who are collecting hours toward becoming a licensed psychologist in the state of CA. WCC clinicians provide mental health and case management services to youth and families.Our ProgramsWe are hiring mental health clinicians/postdoctoral psychologists for the following programs:TAYS (Transitional Age Youth) ProgramsC-Change: Transforming the Lives of Sexually Exploited MinorsC-Change is an intensive mental health program that helps children heal from sexual exploitation. C-Change staff build relationships with exploited youth and stay with them through all stages of recovery.Catch-21: Helping Youth OutBy focusing on the vulnerable period between leaving intensive mental health programs and returning to live in the community, Catch-21 helps youth ages 17-21 develop the skills they need to function successfully.Outpatient ProgramThe Outpatient Therapy Program provides long-term individual and family psychotherapy, parent guidance, and clinical case management services and aims to help children develop adaptive coping mechanisms, positive relational skills, and to facilitate their healthy development.STAT (Screening, Stabilization, and Transition) ProgramThe STAT program is committed to helping children cope with the trauma of abuse and neglect as well as minimizing the impact on children of being separated from their family and community.As a Staff Psychologist, you will:

  • Provide screening, assessment, and therapeutic services ; assess cognitive, emotional, and social functioning and needs; facilitate the identification and engagement in mental health services.
  • Provide individual and family therapy, caregiver guidance, and work with collateral contacts. Work with a case manager as part of a care team to best serve youth.
  • Provide intensive mental health, clinical case management, and wrap-around service development, including crisis intervention and stabilization.
  • Conduct services at WCC and in the community (youth's homes and communities, other agencies, and schools); travel is required.
  • Collaborate with other professionals within WCC and partnering agencies.
  • Engage with program leadership to foster a continuum of quality improvement and strength-building strategies for enhanced client services.
  • Provide stabilization support services to children and TAY in an in-person milieu environment.
  • On weekly shifts, provide stabilization and comprehensive care to Alameda County foster youth and young adults in a milieu environment as they await and prepare for transition to foster placements.What will you gain?

        • Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology. Degree must be conferred prior to start date, interviews and contingent offers available prior to degree conferral.
        • Based on our funding sources, California Department of Mental Health requires that we apply for a professional licensing waiver for all unlicensed psychologists. In order for us to obtain this waiver you need to have your degree conferred/degree requirements completed and be collecting hours towards licensure. Waivers expire 5 years after issuance.
        • Demonstrate clinical skill in assessment/evaluation and treatment, crisis intervention while working with complex, multiple diagnosis histories
        • Well-organized, efficient, and excellent time management
        • A trauma-informed and relational approach to working with youth
        • Ability to assess needs, strengths & provide crisis intervention and de-escalation in small and large group settings.
