DESCRIPTION The Department of Medicine is responsible for
fulfilling the teaching, research, and clinical missions of the
University of California, San Diego and employs 486+ full-time
salaried faculty members and 100+ academic appointees. Staff
personnel include 600+ staff in 9 bargaining units, students, and
volunteers. There are 250 clinical faculty practicing at multiple
sites and hospitals. The Division of Infectious Diseases and Global
Public Health (ID+GPH) within the Department of Medicine at UC San
Diego aims to eliminate the burdens of infectious diseases and
health disparities by delivering outstanding patient care,
conducting world-class multidisciplinary health research, directing
the institutional response to antimicrobial resistance, preventable
healthcare associated infections, and emerging pathogens, and
offering leadership, consultation and training on global public
health, gender equity, microbiology, and infectious diseases
topics. Under supervision of the Principal Investigator, and in
coordination with the Project Coordinator, the employee performs a
full range of duties and responsibilities for research studies on
women living with HIV, and individuals with syndemic or
co-occurring disorders (e.g. trauma, Post-Traumatic stress
disorder, depression, anxiety, substance use disorders). Primary
responsibilities include: provide clinical training to all study
staff and interventionists; help identify client eligibility;
perform community outreach with stakeholders to facilitate
recruitment; assist client access to medical care programs and
community resources; facilitate intervention phase of study
consisting of one-on-one and group counseling sessions according to
Good clinical practice (GCP) standards; work in conjunction with
the peer navigator to facilitate sessions adapted from the
evidence-based intervention. Skills Training in Affective and
Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR); provide crisis intervention
and/or clinical assessment and counseling to those individuals who
are triggered and present with adverse reactions with the goal to
de-escalate and stabilize while assessing if further treatment is
necessary; provide care ethically and in non-judgmental and
non-discriminatory manner, with sensitivity to the patient's
cultural, religious, and/or age specific needs; participate in
quality assurance and program evaluation activities; maintain
clinical files and generating reports; and preserve/protect patient
autonomy, dignity, and rights and follows the Patient Bill of
Rights. The employee will have regular debriefings and feedback
from the study Principal Investigator, Project Coordinator and
study PNs via in-person meetings or conference calls on a routine
basis. Professional and community activities include: participating
in program and community meetings and developing and/or
coordinating special projects and/or programs for clients. MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS
If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.)
must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment;
