Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Oncology - Discipline: Physician Assistant - Start Date: 04/06/2026 - Duration: 48 weeks - 40 hours per week - Shift: 8 hours, days - Employment Type: Locum Tenens Locum Tenens NP/PA – Hematology / Oncology Dignity Health Medical Group – Dominican Hospital Santa Cruz, California Facility Address: 1555 Soquel Drive Santa Cruz, CA 95065 Coverage Type: Locum Tenens Setting: Outpatient / Ambulatory EMR: Cerner Position Overview Dignity Health Medical Group – Dominican is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide Hematology/Oncology outpatient coverage in Santa Cruz, California. This is a full?time, clinic?based role with the opportunity for permanent placement for the right candidate. The provider will work closely with a multidisciplinary oncology team and utilize a premier, co?located infusion center to deliver high?quality, patient?centered cancer care. Schedule & Patient Volume - Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM - Full?time: 5 days per week - No call or weekends - Average patient volume: 16–18 patients per day Clinical Responsibilities - Provide comprehensive hematology and oncology care in an outpatient clinic setting - Manage patients across the continuum of care from diagnosis through survivorship - Partner with nurse navigators, social workers, and support staff to ensure coordinated care - Order and interpret labs and diagnostic studies - Develop and implement evidence?based treatment plans - Document all encounters accurately in the EMR - Participate in multidisciplinary collaboration and care planning Clinical Environment & Support - Premier Infusion Center with 15 private bays arranged around a central nursing hub - Dedicated RN staff - Support from nurse navigators, social workers, pharmacy liaison for oral medications, research coordinators, and genetic counselors - Access to a 17?bed inpatient oncology unit, weekly tumor boards, rapid diagnosis clinic, and two radiation centers - Comprehensive cancer resources including the Katz Cancer Resource Center, clinical trials, tele?genetics, survivorship, and bereavement programs Compensation - Hourly Rate: - $160 Per Hour Requirements - NP or PA with completion of an accredited post?graduate training program - Board Certified in Medical Oncology (highly preferred) - Will consider Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology/Oncology - Active California license - Active DEA - BLS highly preferred (can be obtained during credentialing) - Clean malpractice and background history Credentialing - Timeframe: Up to 90 days - Emergency privileges available Reason for Coverage - Physicians leaving to start their own practice About the Facility & Community Dignity Health Medical Group – Dominican is a physician?led medical group affiliated with Dominican Hospital, a 222?bed, Joint Commission–accredited hospital recognized for quality and safety.
