The 200+ bed medical center in the San Francisco Bay area is actively interviewing for a Chief Financial Officer to join the Executive Team. The VP of Finance will take a critical role in advancing the hospital’s operations and the organization’s mission of compassionate, accessible patient care.
Reporting to the System-level Chief Financial Officer, the Inpatient VP of Finance will lead a complex set of departments. Supported by a Director of Hospital Finance who manages budget analysis, a Health Care Controller who manages accounting functions, the Director of Patient Access and Patient Financial Services (PFS), and the Area Director of Privacy and Health Information Management, the CFO will set strategic direction for fiscal matters and hold responsibility for performance.
An experienced VP / CFO will know the mission critical nature of this role. This person will have first-hand experience with hospital operations, outpatient financial operations, and ancillary services, particularly in a region that’s as competitive as the SF Bay Area. You’ll understand the role patients and providers play, as well as the pressures that hospital financial professionals feel from federal, state, and local regulators. As the head of an expansive Financial Services Department, for a large California hospital, it will also be helpful to have experience managing external stakeholders like community access groups and regional health plan leaders.
Primary among the Chief Financial Officer / VP of Finance responsibilities, is the development and maintenance of long-term financial decision-making that supports the overall mission and vision of this healthcare organization. You’ll get the opportunity to work with leaders throughout the hospital and health system, many of whom come from very diverse backgrounds, to further develop the forward-looking financial and operational strategy for this acute-care, inpatient hospital.
