Job Profile Summary: At Specialtys, our Bakers prepare a variety baked goods. They follow existing recipes, and prepare large quantities of breads, pastries, cookies and so much more throughout the day. We deliver great food, warmth, happiness, smiles and exceptional customer service one Pastry at a time. Essential Functions: Operation Excellence Must be available to work early morning shifts starting at 2am or 3am. Some weekends and holidays are required. Keep a professional overall presentation, by modeling friendly, respectful and business-appropriate communication with coworkers and customers. Maintain a clean and well-groomed personal appearance in accordance with Specialtys Personal Appearance and Attire Standards Policy. Wear Specialtys approved hair restraints, gloves and aprons to protect food safety. Ensure proper hand-washing and hygiene to protect food safety. Ensure compliance with health, food safety and sanitation standards. Maintain a sense of urgency, high intensity, attention to detail and organized workspace. Demonstrate proper and safe use of all tools and equipment: Knife, Bread Slicer, Microwave, Scales, Proofer, Oven and Freezer and Walk-In Refrigerator. Complete opening and closing checklist and weekly cleaning chart. Maintain all OTC and Catering product needs by proper use of Case Commitment Sheet. Monitor oven temperatures, speed settings, and other baking equipment. Follow all standards for stocking, rotating and sorting products. Maintain a clean and stocked Bakery area by performing routine cleaning. Ensure exceptional product by following recipes, understanding prep procedures and maintaining raw materials quality. Use Product Cutting to ensure product served to guests meets Specialtys W.H.A.T standards. Properly bake and finish products as outlined in the Product Reference Cards. Communicate shortages or surpluses of prep items with management. Announce hot product and arrange in Bakery Case. Report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner to management team. Perform required physical tasks during the work shift. Perform additional projects/duties as assigned by management. Skills/Requirements: Dont worry if youve never been a Baker. Specialtys is dedicated to teaching you our fun techniques to make you the best Baker! Food Service or Retail experience preferred, not required. Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality with or without reasonable accommodation. Meet store operating policies and standards, including providing quality beverages and food products, cash handling and store safety and security, with or without reasonable accommodation. Provide quality service, taking pride in working behind the scenes to prepare quality products for our customers. Available to perform many different tasks within the store during each shift. Sharp attention to detail. Must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to read and speak English. Authorized to work in the United States (Specialtys participates in E-Verify). Food Handler Certificate/Card (Must have 2 weeks of hire). Physical Requirements: Ability to smile, kneel, reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and lift 35 pounds. Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours). Job Environment: Fast-Paced, High-Intensity Work Environment. Operates in a kitchen environment, housed with equipment such as an oven, bread slicer, meat slicer, toaster, microwave, espresso machine, duchess, soup kettles, and chefs knives. The employee is frequently exposed to heat, steam, and noise. Requires frequent contact/immersion of hands in water, sanitation solutions, meat products, and produce items.
