Position Overview KIPP Bay Area Public Schools is seeking a new associate who is people-oriented and passionate about working for an organization dedicated to creating a safe and dynamic educational experience that encourages students to grow into their full potential. The Human Resources Associate will focus on credentialing and will be a member of the Human Resources Team and will have the opportunity to develop as an HR professional through a wide range of learning experiences. The Human Resources Associate (Credentials) is a critical role in our regional compliance efforts for instructional and non-instructional positions requiring licensure: s/he will lead equipping key stakeholders with the knowledge to successfully navigate credentialing requirements, be responsible for managing licensure data for internal and external reporting, and manage a portfolio of three schools for generalist support in key HR functions. This role reports directly to the Human Resources Manager and is full-time, exempt. The home base is the Oakland office (BART accessible) with periodic travel. Desired start date is July 1. Primary Responsibilities

  • This position on credentialing for instructional and non-instructional staff Support faculty in meeting state and federal credentialing requirements
    • Remain current on state and federal education codes to stay abreast of laws, rules, and regulations affecting credentialing procedures and requirements
    • Maintain employee credential information, including periodic audits to ensure that records are accurate and current in our personnel database
    • Identify, review, and evaluate the proper credentialing required for instructional and non-instructional staff requiring licensing
    • Serve as a resource for teachers and service providers to help them navigate and find the best options for their credentialing needs
    • Track progress and proactively communicate to staff and managers required milestones for compliance or renewal
    • Understand regional credentialing needs and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to support teachers and service providers in meeting benchmarks
    • Collaborate with external credential partners to ensure that faculty have access to programs
    • Execute day-to-day credential compliance and processing functions, such as reviewing, mailing, and following up on returned applications
    • Support our hiring teams in evaluating prospective candidate credentials for appropriate placement and evaluating potential credential pathways for eligible prospects
    • Responsible for gathering data for audits and state reporting
    • Facilitate workshops and trainings for new hires Provide administrative support to the HR team to ensure best-in-class service
      • Keep current on state and federal employment law practices
      • Work closely with School Leaders and Operations Managers to provide training as needed in the execution of day-to-day HR functions such as, but not limited to, tracking time-off and approving timesheets
      • Responsible for coordinating the assignment of mandated pieces of training for staff
      • Primary contact for answering employee inquiries and service requests in Zendesk
      • Assist with new hire orientation, onboarding, and training
      • Support teammates in tracking TB expirations, informing staff, and updating the records in our HRIS
      • Travel to school sites on set schedule to provide support, guidance, and coaching to teachers and School Leaders regarding the credentialing process
      • Verify current employees have current credentials and eligible for employment
      • Demonstrate knowledge of, and actively support, KIPP mission, vision, values, policies and procedures, confidentiality and professionalism
      • Attend regular trainings to expand HR and credential-specific knowledge
      • Perform other duties as needed Preferred Qualifications, Education and Skill Set

            • Bachelor's degree
            • At least 2 years of work experience in credentialing and familiarity with CA education code regulations
            • 1-2 years of HR experience is desirable Skill Set
                • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written skills; excellent customer service, relationship building, and relationship management skills
                • Self-starter and adaptive learner
                • Strong project management skills
                • Organized and high ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
                • Ability to balance efficiency with meticulous attention to detail
                • Strong work ethic coupled with an enthusiastic and passionate approach to your work
                • Balance working well independently and collaboratively with others
