The Network Administrator works closely with Server Administrator/Systems Analyst to provide Tier Two/Second level support for servers, systems and network. The Network administrator is the network subject matter expert that is involved in network mapping, installation, start-up, maintenance and improvements. This involves ensuring the integrity and adequacy of the companies' LAN/WAN network connectivity, security, deployment, and other related tasks. The Network Administrator is under direct supervision of the IS Operations Manager and assists in developing support strategies and short-term operations planning.-- Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide helpdesk support for network hardware and software both local and remote
• Assist first tier support personnel in resolving helpdesk issues for site communication between remote and local data center
• Work with Tier Three support personnel and Operations Manager to formulate, test, and maintain Business Recovery plans
• Plans, recommends and assists in procurement, installation, administration and maintenance of routers, switches, firewalls, printers, VOIP phones and other network related and/or capable device
• Provide hands-on training and documentation to team member for setup and configuration
• Prepare project documentation for and network device lifecycle locally and remote
• Manage and maintain software and hardware inventory corporate wide
• Prepare budgetary recommendations for Operations Manager, Department Heads, and Regional Directors
• Work with hardware and software vendors to negotiate pricing and terms
• Evaluate VOIP hardware software and systems
• Perform support for network appliances configuration on servers
• Research and assist in the purchase of required network hardware and software
• Assist with monthly Windows Update deployment process to Windows servers and workstations within the organization via SCCM. Experience and Educational Qualifications
  • Four year college degree from an accredited institution preferred
  • Possession of a Network Administration Certificate is preferred
  • Considerable (5 years) and current experience as an Administrator on a medium sized network of servers, desktop systems and communications devices using current technologies Abilities Required
    • Ability to utilize effective customer service skills
    • Should be able to communicate both written and verbally in an effective manner
    • Ability to prepare project documentation
    • Background with Ethernet networks, TCP/IP configurations, VPN installations, Wireless device management
    • Establishes network by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls
    • Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor
    • Establishes network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols
    • Set up, maintenance, and upgrade network security, especially those involving IP addresses and connectivity on selected hardware
    • Install, monitor, maintain, upgrade standards for server installations to minimize if not totally obliterate security breaches, inadequate data management and application crashes
    • Install, monitor, maintain the VPN gateways to detect and solve security and or accessibility issues
    • Utilization of remote access technologies including basic use and troubleshooting.
