Job Description:
At eBay, we're more than a global ecommerce leader — we’re
changing the way the world shops and sells. Our platform empowers
millions of buyers and sellers in more than 190 markets around the
world. We’re committed to pushing boundaries and leaving our mark
as we reinvent the future of ecommerce for enthusiasts. Our
customers are our compass, authenticity thrives, bold ideas are
welcome, and everyone can bring their unique selves to work — every
day. We're in this together, sustaining the future of our
customers, our company, and our planet. Join a team of passionate
thinkers, innovators, and dreamers — and help us connect people and
build communities to create economic opportunity for all. About the
Team: You will be part of a team responsible for building out the
newest eBay experience live shopping platform: eBay Live. Live
shopping naturally fits into the eBay ethos focused largely on
unique items, collectibles and fashion, and enabling direct
communication between buyers and sellers. This is a relatively new
trend in the US and Europe, growing quickly, and is already broadly
established in APAC. We are looking to hire a passionate,
collaborative, and motivated Android Software Engineer, who will
help us develop and evolve eBay Live to be a market leader in live
shopping and become a key part of the global eBay platform. Join us
to make an impact on one of the world’s largest e-commerce
websites. What you will accomplish: Design, develop, and maintain
high-performance, modular, and loosely coupled features for eBay’s
core Android application. Collaborate with multi-functional teams
(Product, Design, Backend) to define, develop, and ship new
features. Ensure performance, quality, responsiveness, and
stability of the application. Work with backend service teams to
design mobile-optimized service contracts. Participate in
Agile/Scrum processes, providing estimates, identifying risks, and
supporting planning and rollout of changes. Participate in code
reviews and contribute to continuous improvement through adoption
of modern Android tools and practices. What you will bring: 6 years
of professional experience in Android development. Proficiency in
Kotlin (Java experience is a plus), including advanced language
features such as coroutines and lambdas. Experience building
Android applications using Jetpack Compose and/or XML-based UI,
with a focus on modern platform design patterns. Solid
understanding of Android architectural patterns, particularly MVVM
and unidirectional data flow. Experience developing small to
medium-sized features independently. Experience writing unit, UI,
and automation tests using Android platform tools, with an emphasis
on clean, testable code. Familiarity with dependency management and
build tools such as Gradle and Artifactory. Basic understanding of
system design principles for large-scale consumer mobile
applications. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, production
monitoring, and memory management fundamentals. Ability to
independently translate product and design requirements into clean,
well-tested, crash-free, and maintainable production code,
including solving issues across development, test, and production
environments. Preferred Experience: Experience building real time,
user facing systems (e.g., live streaming, chat, bidding,
collaboration tools, gaming, or financial trading) where latency
and errors materially impact user trust and outcomes. Background
working on high traffic, event driven products (launches, flash
sales, live events) with an understanding of infrastructure
capacity planning, traffic spikes, and graceful degradation under
load. Lead root-cause analysis and implement long-term fixes across
platform to eliminate recurring issues and continuously elevate the
customer experience. Websocket and FGQL experience a plus.
