to the Assistant General Counsel - Chief Products Counsel, the
position will advise the business on regulatory requirements and
compliance as to product safety, labeling, warnings, and
instructions for use. The position will provide legal support and
counseling for the domestic and global Corporate Quality and Global
Stewardship (regulatory affairs) functions on regulatory
requirements and compliance. This includes, but is not limited to,
product manufacturing and distribution policies and procedures;
government inspections and inquiries; adverse event reporting and
tracking; product quality reviews and investigations; and
advertising, marketing and consumer protection issues. This role
may also assist with other matters such as environmental, health
and safety matters.In this role, you will:
- Provide legal counsel on matters relating to regulatory
compliance by Clorox's operations and products with a focus on
CPSC, EPA and other applicable regulatory authorities, foreign
equivalents, and company policies.
- Provide legal counsel to Corporate Quality and Global
Stewardship (regulatory affairs) groups on product and compliance
issues under the Consumer Product Safety Act, the Poison Prevention
Packaging Act (PPPA), the Food, Drug and Cosmetics Act (FDCA), the
Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), and
other legal requirements.
- Provide counseling to business units and brands on regulatory
issues related to the advertising, marketing and promotion of
regulated products, including disinfecting products regulated under
FIFRA.
- Support business units and brands regarding product
development, product quality and regulatory issues, including
governmental agency inquiries, investigations, and disputes
relating to regulatory compliance and/or product quality.
- Provide support and counsel regarding collection, maintenance
and reporting of adverse events; tracking new regulations;
supporting capability building for compliance.
- Proactively counsel the business on new laws, regulations, and
industry trends related to the regulation of consumer products,
including disinfecting products, in the countries and states in
which Clorox does business.
- Assist in other substantive legal areas, including assisting on
general commercial transactions; also working with members of Legal
leadership, other attorneys and staff on departmental matters as
needed.
- Develop and provide training to employees on product regulatory
and other legal matters.
- Efficiently manage outside counsel on regulatory and other
matters.This role may also assist with environmental, health and
safety matters, including 1) providing legal counsel to Corporate
Health, Safety and Environment group on permitting issues,
environmental compliance of facilities, release response and
remediation efforts, environmental due diligence in real estate and
corporate transactions and 2) assisting with environmental disputes
and litigation, including management of outside counsel.What we
look for:
- JD and Bachelors degrees.
- Member of the California State Bar, or eligible to register
under the California State Bar in-house counsel program.
- 5+ years as a practicing attorney with significant and
demonstrable experience, including experience at a top tier law
firm. - In house experience greatly preferred. -
- Experience in regulatory matters, with a focus on product
safety. Knowledge of disinfecting products regulation (FIFRA)
and/or FDA regulations a plus.
- Demonstrated success at providing strategic counseling to
business partners that takes into account legal considerations
along with business goals.
- Broad range of relevant legal experience, including the ability
to identify issues, connect dots, apply a business mindset,
prioritize and resolve critical legal issues in real time, and
escalate risks as appropriate.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability
to drive, lead, provide points of view and listen while working
with legal and technical staffs.
- Strong negotiation, consultative and facilitation skills with
the ability to effectively interact with all internal and external
stakeholders.
- Self-starter with a sense of urgency, ability to multi-task,
ability to prioritize matters and to handle unanticipated
situations effectively and work well under pressure with tight
deadlines to ensure timely and appropriate response to issues
raised.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation
skills.
- Ability to travel 10-15%.Workplace type:This position is hybrid

your area.-Zone A: $138,100 - $277,400-Zone B: $126,600 -
$254,300-Zone C: $115,100 - $231,200All ranges are subject to
