**Job Summary**

AECOM is looking for an Environmental Planner III to be based in either our San Jose or Oakland, CA office.

Responsibilities include but aren't limited to the following:

+ Manages complex planning studies, development applications and reviews.

+ Reviews and processes complex comprehensive plan amendments, rezoning, annexations, site plans and plats.

+ Conducts research and prepares statistical reports on land use, physical, social and economic issues.

+ Provides professional planning assistance to member communities on varied land use and transportation projects.

+ Develops plans, studies and analyses on regional basis.

+ Works in regional program areas relating to natural/water resources planning, community development, hazard mitigation, coastal zone management, and others.

+ Performs field inspections to gather data relevant to the development review process and/or to verify that development projects comply with approved plans.

+ Conducts meetings and presents reports and other findings to staff with advisory boards and elected officials.

+ Support senior management with business development and responding to proposals

+ Manage small or medium-sized projects and serve as a deputy project manager or task lead on larger, more complex projects

+ Oversee the work of others and mentor others

+ Background working with clients from public and private utility companies and municipal, state or federal government on environmental compliance documentation and permits; experience working with Monterey Bay and southern San Francisco Bay area agencies preferred.

+ Experience interacting with regulatory agency representatives in Northern California

**Minimum Requirements**

+ BA/BS in Natural Resource or Environmental Sciences, Urban Planning or related field + four years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Master of Science in Natural Resource or Environmental Sciences, Urban Planning or related field

+ 5+ years' experience successfully supporting or managing permit acquisition from federal, state, regional and local agencies

+ Experience as Project Manager or Deputy Manager roles on environmental planning projects

+ Experience preparing NEPA and CEQA environmental documents with extensive knowledge of current regulations and guidance

+ Understanding of the environmental regulatory framework in California, including applicable state and federal laws.

+ Strong individual and collaborative research and analytical abilities

+ Strong written and oral communication skills, including the editing, oversight or preparation of technical reports

+ Strong organizational skills, database software usage and an ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously

+ Actively participated in management of environmental projects including client interaction, schedule and budget controls, and invoicing
