POSITION SUMMARYManage and execute a range of specialized duties in the administration of California State credential requirements and processes including, but not limited to assessing the suitability of credentials; monitoring and reporting on credential status for charter schools and external agencies In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert to guide and shape regulations, policies, processes, and procedures related to credentials; support Human Resources and school partners in acquiring and retaining credentialed teachers. Maintain confidentiality of all personnel matters; some duties will involve access to confidential information concerning employer-employee relations.You will support the Five Keys mission by creating a supportive environment of mutual respect and fairness while encouraging creative and critical thinking through an equity lens. In addition, you will contribute to our appreciation of diversity and foster a climate of multicultural understanding.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop and implement strategies to support Five Keys in ensuring compliance of certificated /non-certificated staff with credentialing requirements Understand teacher assignment standards based on state guidelines Read and understand the education code especially relating to teacher credentialing and school requirements Understand CalPads credential coding and for courses Actively identify issues and proactively implement a system to reduce credential non-compliance; serve as a content expert on credentialAbility to develop a program model for student teaching and mentoring to support the completion of intern credential holdersIn collaboration with school leadership, track and support the implementation of an observation schedule and class assignment for intern and preliminary credential holdersMaintain database of all teacher pursuing their credential, audit database to ensure that records are accurate and currentWork with Accounts Payable and principals to approve all tuition reimbursement requestsRemain current on existing California credentialing requirements, and also remain abreast of any legislative changes Provide resources and support to teachers and other credentialed staff engaged in the obtainment of a credential Maintain a variety of confidential and non-confidential manual and electronic documents, files, and records related to credential for the purpose of supporting HR with up to date information Serve as the primary contact person for the TIP Program Work with principals to provide training, support, and assistance to the teachers pursuing their credential Supervise and provide all professional development training to participating teachers in the induction program Assess the needs of the approved institution to provide student teaching opportunities for all teachersWork with the leadership to appropriately design, develop, implement and coordinate the program to meet accreditation requirements Independently research credential options for teachersWork with principals, directors, and teachers to coordinate student teaching assignments or coverage Maintain the program in good standing with the California Teacher Commission Accreditation System (including Program Assessment, CALSAAS, and CTC guidelines and reporting, coordinating site visits, clearances, and follow up documentation)KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSKnowledge of State of California requirements and laws pertaining to credentials Federal credential requirements and laws such as Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)Understand laws, rules, regulations involved in processing certificated personnel Certificated contract agreements Methods and processes of statistical analysis and data reporting Recordkeeping techniques Telephone, e-mail, and face-to-face etiquette Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy Knowledge of applicable sections of the State Education Code and other laws EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCEPrevious teaching experience requiredAt least 2 years of experience coaching or mentoring teachers - preferredValid Single Subject /Multiple Subject K-12 credential or equivalentPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMust wear provided PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and adhere to all safety guidelines and requirementsModerate to an extensive degree of physical and emotional stamina Travel to multiple sites may be requiredFrequent and prolonged standing, walking and sitting Frequent talking and hearing conversations Occasional reaching with hands and arms Occasionally lifting up to 25 lbsAbility to follow oral directions in emergency situations Travel to multiple sites, if required Clear TB test results submitted within 10 days of hire requiredWillingness to show proof of COVID-19 vaccine or sign waiver accepting on-site, in-person work assignment if choosing not to vaccinate WORK ENVIRONMENTMust be willing and able to travel state-wide to various locations or meetings as neededThere can be some personal safety risk when working in-custody, in community locations with at-risk population, and/or justice-involved locationsWork environment varies from site to siteModerate to high noise levelBENEFITS Wonderful benefits package!Medical insurance monthly costs are very lowDeductible and out of pocket expenses paid by Five KeysDental, vision, and life insurance premiums paid by Five KeysPre-Tax Flexible Spending Accounts (transit, parking, medical, child, and adult care)Retirement account options (STRS and 403b)Generous paid time offAnnual $100 gym membership reimbursementAnnual $100 towards smoking cessation programAnnual $100 towards weight loss programAnnual $50 towards athletic event participationAnnual $50 towards a massage (after 6 months of employment)Free access to wellness-related appsFree Employee Assistance Program This job description is not a complete statement of essential functions and responsibilities.
