Full-time Teaching Position Starting
The College Preparatory School, an
independent high school in Oakland, California, seeks a full-time
History teacher starting Fall semester 2021. This position entails
teaching four sections of about 16 students in each, and two preps.
Candidates should have a strong interest in working in a
multicultural community and be eager to embrace spirited
intellectual challenges in a rewarding academic environment.

The College Prep history program is
unique, innovative and rigorous, and includes three required
year-long courses: Asian Worlds (in the 9th grade), The Atlantic
World (in the 10th grade), and The U.S. and the World, taken in the
junior year. History teachers work closely with one another, honing
and reshaping the curriculum. Beyond required courses, the vast
majority of our students choose to take one or more history
electives their senior year. These include Constitutional Law,
Ancient and Medieval History, Gender History, and Linguistics.
History section sizes average 16 students. Students use both texts
and teacher-produced material in classes.
