The Business Services Coordinator works in the Workforce Development & WIOA Department to provide oversight to business services and activities to local employers.

Essential Duties

* Meet with area businesses to assess workforce skill needs, identify resources, and discuss appropriate services that can be provided by the Triangle South Workforce Development Board (TSWDB), Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and other NCWorks Career Center programs and partners, to include incumbent worker targeted grant programs;

* Provide center-based Business Services Representatives and other NCWorks Career Center staff with connections for on-the-job training, work experience, and job placements; to educate staff on availability of new technology and jobs; to provide other technical assistance and review reports;

* Coordinate and promote a single point of contact methodology via an integrated and unified business outreach effort with NCWorks Career Center business outreach teams and organizations external to the career centers including economic development, community colleges, vocational rehabilitation, and other partner agencies;

* Participate in approved meetings of business groups to network and discuss available services;

* Market WIOA, special grants and, other NCWorks business oriented grant programs; oversee application review and submission process; monitor contracts and enter data into electronic records system;

* Identify and implement applicable elements of the Board's strategic plan;

* Coordinate grant implementation with counterparts; jointly organize, facilitate, report, and follow up on activities and events to include regional business services teams and initiatives;

* Attend relevant NCWorks Career Center meetings on behalf of the Triangle South WDB;

* Research sector needs and labor market trends and recommend projects and strategies to improve employer services;

* Maintain current knowledge and awareness of local, regional, and global workforce trends and advances; read professional literature and maintain professional affiliations;

* Conduct, process, analyze and report on employer surveys and make recommendations;

* Remain abreast of best practices regarding North Carolina Certified Career Pathways and Next Generation Sector partnerships;

* Attend and participate in applicable regional, state, and federal meetings, conferences, workgroups, and training sessions designed to enhance professional knowledge and skills;

* Assist the Director of Communications with the creation and development of business services based content and communicative materials;

* Serve as staff liaison to various board committees as assigned by the Executive Director;

* Display an understanding and appreciation for the philosophy of the NC Community College System;

* Remain abreast of current best practices, trends, and policies regarding workforce development;

* Maintain the ability to work with diverse colleagues;

* Maintain the ability to develop and sustain community and business relations;

* Ability to work in fast-paced, challenging environment;

* Ability to work independently, with limited supervision;

* Other duties as assigned.

Additional Information:

* It is expected that the business services coordinator will travel throughout the service extensively to engage employers, partners, and attend meetings.

* The requirements of the position include several before and after-hours' events

* The position requires participation in out-of-town events which include overnight stays and may include air travel.

* Attendance at events over weekends may be required.

Minimum Requirements

* Bachelor's Degree and other credentials including substantial experience in public policy, workforce development, economic development, business outreach and/or work experience may be considered in lieu of or in conjunction with educational experience, AND
