Visit Aspire Public Schools at Summary:The Senior Accountant plays an integral role in the accounting period close processes. They will lead the cash receipts process, ensures timeliness and accuracy in the revenue recognition and accrual process, complete and review bank reconciliations, and works closely with our schools through internal auditing of records. The Senior Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and reconciliations. They will support analysis of existing processes and procedures and make necessary modifications. Through leadership they provide to accounting staff and ownership of accounting data, they ensure the accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage the cash receipts and revenue accrual processes with accounting staff. Collaborate with Finance team to ensure accruals are appropriate. Oversee and perform monthly accounts receivable reconciliations.Establish and manage all inter-company/AMLA/Ollin transactions and entries. Review all inter-company entries on a monthly or quarterly basis and generate necessary invoices.Collaborating with financial analysts and Controller to identify schools in need of cash and those schools meeting criteria to lend. Setting up intra-organizational agreements, completing entries including interest to ensure clearly identifiable audit trails.Complete and review monthly bank reconciliations. Conduct and oversee other balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger activity. Identify and resolve discrepancies.Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual period close process with clear communication and execution.Ownership of cash management including cash investments compliance and monitoring and monthly school-by-school cash reviews to ensure schools have adequate funds.Review journal entries and cash receipts generated accounting staff and financial analystsFulfillment of periodic reporting/data requests for the Financial Reporting department, auditor requests, etc.Coordinate and manage annual interim and year end external audit process with support of Controller. Delegate responsibilities to appropriate internal staff. Support annual tax return filing.Perform internal audits of our schools records and openly communicate with Aspire's school sites.Record Bi-Weekly payroll posting and end of month reconciliations of the dataManage monthly self-billing benefit payments process and reporting to vendors with support of accounting staff. Establish monthly benefits reconciliation process to ensure accuracy of ledger.Manage projects to implement new accounting standards such as Revenue Recognition, or to set up new entities or bank accounts.Fulfillment of periodic and annual reporting/data requests for the Financial Reporting department, auditor requests, etc.Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures to streamline operationsSupport, collaborate, and train Accountants or Accounts Payable staff. Able to delegate appropriate tasks/requests to other teammates.Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controlsCollaborate with Financial Analysts team and Controller to improve financial procedures.QUALIFICATIONS:1)Required knowledge, skills & abilitiesExcellent financial analytical skills and thorough knowledge of accounting; solid understanding of financial statements and how to produce and report on themAbility to research complex problems and develop cost effective solutions.
