Physician II - Board Certified
Company: Alameda Health System
Posted on: June 8, 2021
Highland Hospital, located in Oakland, California, is the
largest facility of Alameda Health System which serves a diverse
patient population in California's East Bay Area. As part of
Alameda County's safety net, we provide quality, accessible care to
our community's most vulnerable patients. Our providers and staff
are dedicated to our patients and would love to welcome others who
share our mission!
We are currently recruiting for a Full Time Board Certified
Physician (Adult or Family Medicine) to join our team in a
primarily telehealth position. This provider will be the point of
"terminal escalation" for our centralized Call Center nurse triage.
The Alameda Health System Call Center triage nurses currently
handle incoming symptom triage calls for patients with emergent
symptoms and COVID-related symptoms. The triage services will
expand over the coming year to incorporate all symptom triage
requests for patients calling in. At present, there are three to
four escalations daily from Nurse Triage to a provider of the day.
This provider will replace the provider of the day and assist nurse
triage in determining what level of care is needed for acute
patients who call in. In addition to serving as a consult service
for the nurse triage team, the provider may conduct telehealth
visits (especially for patients in Southern Alameda County) or live
visits in the Urgent Care clinic and refer to the ER as
appropriate. In addition, there are typically around three patients
daily who need urgent access but cannot be seen in their home
clinics who the provider would be expected to manage. Further
expansion of duties is possible as our Call Center grows in scope
and ability. If you are interested in this opportunity, we
encourage you to apply!
