Summary SUMMARY: Responsible for the operations of a community library and direction of the cataloging section of the Medical Library in the Office of Graduate and Continuing Medical Education; -is responsible for the library 's collection, such as the Audio-Visual program of service in the Main Library; assists medical students, residents, fellows, trainees, faculty, staff, scholars -and other researchers to find books and materials and provide them with advice on how to perform research related to their topicDUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification. -1. - Collects materials in/for the library; interprets services to community organizations and educational instructions.2. - Acts as principal reference librarian and provides quality control for interlibrary reference and interlibrary loan.3. - Initiates and maintains contact with the community, including city councils and city staff, as well as organizations and agencies within the community; arranges visits for members of the community, speaks to organizations about library services; prepares publicity on library activities; encourages use of the library by community members.4. - Within the framework of System wide collection development policies and procedures, develops book collection appropriate for the community served in the Main Library; familiarizes self with newly received books; -5. - Works with CME Coordinator to align CME activities with those of the Library and the Residency Program Coordinators in the training and orientation of new professional Staff, trainees, residents, and fellows.6. - Performs other duties as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.Required Education: Bachelor 's degree required in related field.Preferred Education: Master 's Degree in Library Science from a recognized college or university.Required Experience: Three of directly related experience. -
