Program Associate (or Senior Program Associate), Immigration --
Oakland, CA. Spanish required. The National Center for Youth Law
(NCYL) works to amplify youth power, dismantle racism and other
structural inequities, and build just policies, practices, and
culture in support of young people. Our efforts advance justice

to education, health, immigration, foster care, and youth justice.

themselves. -Immigration Team -NCYL's Immigration Team engages in
advocacy to ensure that immigrant children are able to live in
communities rather than in government custody and have access to
the resources and opportunities they need to heal and thrive. We
use a combination of federal litigation, state and federal policy
advocacy, stakeholder education, and coalition building to uphold
and expand the rights of detained immigrant youth as well as
immigrant children in the community. Position -NCYL seeks a
dynamic, passionate, and organized Program Associate or Senior
Program Associate to join the Immigration team. This position is a
great opportunity for someone who wants to contribute to an active
team that uses a diverse set of strategies to uphold and expand the
rights of immigrant children. -Note: We are hiring for only one
role. You will be assessed for the role which more closely fits
your knowledge, skills, and abilities. -Essential Functions
(Program Associate) -
- Provide logistical and administrative support to the
Immigration Team, including coordinating monthly team meetings and
annual team retreats. -
- Manage grant applications, proposals, and progress reports.

- Develop and maintain online project management tools and
internal filing systems. -
- Support team in developing and finalizing high-quality
publications for external audiences, including the creation of
graphic design elements. -
- Support the team to implement community engagement,
communications, and promotion strategies, including creating social
media and website content.
- Provide technology support, including supporting the rollout of
new technology systems. -
- Provide interpretation and translation support to Immigration
Team members, as needed. -
- Conduct academic, basic data, and factual research and
analysis, as needed. -Essential Functions (Senior Program
Associate) -All of the above, plus: -
- Execute data analysis on large-scale Excel data sets. -
- Manage projects with multiple contributors, deliverables, and
deadlines with high level of communication about implementation and
progress. -Required Qualification -Fluency in oral and written
Spanish and English. -Other Qualifications (Program Associate) -
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience providing logistical and
administrative support.
- Passionate about supporting the well-being of immigrant
children and youth. -
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. -
- Ability to communicate clearly and work cooperatively with
people from diverse professional and personal backgrounds. -
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments at once and
meet concurrent deadlines. -
- Flexibility to respond quickly and positively to shifting
demands and opportunities. -
- Ability to work independently and take direction as needed.

- Proficiency with graphic design and document layout. -
- Ability to use or quickly learn technological platforms (i.e.,
Zoom/Webex/Google Meet, AirTable, social media platforms, Google
Drive, SharePoint, etc.).
- Demonstrated understanding of the harm caused to youth,
families, and communities by the U.S. immigration system.
- Ability and willingness to engage in limited travel. -Other
Qualifications (Senior Program Associate) -All of the above, plus:
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience providing logistical and
administrative support and managing the implementation of projects
with multiple contributors.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects
with diverse partners and stakeholders. -
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: advocacy
campaigns, community organizing, public administration, or public
policy. -Physical Requirements Prolonged periods sitting at a desk
and working on a computer. Requires ability to work remotely and to
travel. Salary, Benefits and Location -This is a full-time,
non-exempt position. Program Associate salary is competitive at
$66,632.00 annually; Senior Program Associate salary is competitive
at $73,307.00 annually. NCYL provides a robust benefits package

contribution to a retirement plan, and short-term and long-term
disability insurance. -Candidate must be currently living in, or
willing to move to, the San Francisco Bay area, CA. The position is
based out of the NCYL Oakland, CA, office. This position is
eligible for 100% remote work through March 31, 2023, although this
particular position may require presence in the Oakland office a
few times a month. It is possible that starting in April 2023, NCYL
will require people to work in an office, in which case they will
need to be in a location where they can commute to the office
regularly. We are actively engaging in this conversation as an
