Job Description:

The Scientific Team at Russell Tobin & Associates is hiring a for a contract Ingredient Research Scientist at an established energy food and drink company near Oakland, CA.
The Research Scientist is a part of a talented Research and Development Team and is accountable for managing key areas of ingredient research and quality.
Responsibilities

• 
  
• Lead new ingredient approval from a technical standpoint
  
• Responsible for developing ingredients specifications and ensure that ingredients are compliant to regulatory and internal requirements
  
• Work closely with ingredient suppliers to assess critical technical capabilities such as processes, documentation, and ingredient quality parameters
  
• Lead new ingredient sourcing and research to support innovation
  
• Identify and validate secondary sources of ingredients to maintain supply continuity
  
• Manage Nutrition Software database
  
• Support other teams such as Co-manufacturers and Brand team with ingredient related questions and problem solving
  
  
  Requirements
  
  • 
    
  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree
    
  • Experience making food products in an experimental kitchen/lab setting
    
  • Product development, ingredient application or food quality assurance expeirence
    
  • Experience and knowledge in food ingredient technical parameters, nutrition, and functionality
    
  • Experience solving technical problems with nutritional food/beverage related formulas from the food industry
    
  • Ability to read and understand technical food documents and ingredients specifications
    
  • Comfortable working on a computer
    
  • Working within Genesis is a plus
