Job Summary

Public Safety Ambassadors protect and guard University of California property; maintain order among public and UCSF community; monitor and control entry to restricted areas; inspect areas to prevent fires, accidents and other hazards; direct visitors and answer questions concerning building and/or exhibit layouts; assist in first aid or lifesaving actions; de-escalate situations as needed and perform other related duties as required.

This job involves: climbing stairs; pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds; carrying and lifting 21-30 pounds; and ability to run short distances.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid California Driver's License
  • BSIS Guard Card
  • Current C.P.R. certification (within 6 months of hire)
  • Basic First Aid certification (within 6 months of hire)
  • CPI Training (within 6 months of hire)
  • AED Certification (within 6 months of hire)
  • Excellent customer service and effective problem-solving skills; ability to fluently speak, read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English
  • Demonstrated ability to work calmly under stress in emergency situations; sound judgment skills
  • General PC knowledge and demonstrated proficiency using MS Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Demonstrated record of excellent attendance and reliabilityNote: Physical/health screening, fingerprinting and background check required.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 1-3 years of experience in the security field
    • Military experience
