Job Description:
SUMMARY: Under general direction, the Clinical and PACS Imaging
Administrator oversees the day to day clinical operations of the
Imaging Services Department. Responsible for development,
operation, interpretation and application of departmental policies
for all clinical areas, processes and matters for the Alameda
Health System Imaging department and PACS administration. Performs
and manages operations of diagnostic imaging examinations in at
least two specialized diagnostic areas, including but not limited
to CT (Computed Tomography), Angiography, Mammography, MRI,
Ultrasound and PACS Corrections. Develops and provides for
specialized clinical (Radiologic) education and training. DUTIES &
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE : The following are the duties
performed by employees in this classification. However, employees
may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all
duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the
classification. 1. Performs the ACR Accreditations for all
equipment in the Imaging Departments within Alameda Health System.
Manages the initial, renewal and re-accreditation documentation,
submission, reporting and clinical imaging support for all ACR
accreditations for all modalities required by regulation or
specified as necessary by leadership.2. Manages all aspects of EOC
(Environment of Care) for all Imaging Departments within Alameda
Health System, creates and sends reports, develops yearly reports,
attends EOC meetings.3. Organizes, directs and manages the student
program for Imaging within Alameda Health System.4. Accountability
for initial and annual competency trainings for all imaging
staff.5. Develops and trains on work flows as necessary as directed
by department leadership or Chair of Radiology. 6. Liases with
other departments as above to ensure quality and safety of all
procedures.7. Ensures standard protocols across the Alameda System
for all modalities within Imaging.8. Coordinates and conducts
department in-service education and promotes professional growth of
staff.9. Coordinates and conducts radiation safety in-services as
needed at the direction of the Radiation Safety Officer throughout
the system including departments exterior to Imaging.10.
Responsible for maintenance of radiation measurement devices for
providers, employees and students.11. Reviews safety and quality
policies, procedures, and protocols on a regular basis for the
Imaging Departments of Alameda Health System.12. Manages and chairs
Radiation Safety committee per direction from the Radiation Safety
Officer to ensure compliance with California Code of Regulations
Title 17 and the Joint Commission.13. Performs Quality Imaging
Reviews and QA for all departments within the Imaging Departments
in Alameda Health System in conjunction with reading
Radiologists.14. Manages QA/QC documentation as required by
regulations.15. Initiates new quality improvement
processes/projects as needed and/or as directed. Including but not
limited to review of technical QA logs. Corrects and educates as
appropriate. Works with operational leadership as necessary to
ensure quality/safe imaging.16. Performs procedures in clinical
areas of which they are licensed to stay current and competent
clinically and as a mentor and guide to other staff. (less than
40%).17. As Credentialed Epic trainer, is responsible for training
all new employees in EPIC application as well as back up trainer
for Cardiovascular Services (Has responsibility for CUPID and
RADIANT applications, must be credentialed in at least one
application).18. As PACS administrator, performs all PACS imaging
duties in collaboration with staff and physicians for all Imaging
Department needs across the system. (24 x 7 accountability for
emergent needs that would effect patient care).19. Meets with
vendors and technical representatives from manufacturers; may
assist in establishing and disseminating protocols; follows
protocols for all modalities as applicable, monitors QA for all
fluoroscopy and CT units, ensures proper functioning for
departmental quality assurance and accrediting agencies.20.
Maintains radiologic services in conformance with the Federal and
State Regulations as outlined with the Bureau of Standards
Handbook, #79 and the California Radiation Control Regulations,
#17. Ensures compliance with state and federal rules and
regulations on safety through periodic audits, quality assurance
programs, and environmental appraisals.21. Prepares for and ensures
compliance with California Radiologic Health Branch
surveys/inspections.22. Works with system project coordinators to
ensure inventory and licensure are current at all times.23.
Coordinates Physicist surveys, and acts on deficiencies.24.
Participates in hospital meetings, conferences and represents the
Imaging Services Department in relation to Radiology functions and
student activity. Maintains effective relationships with other
departments and agencies both inside and outside the organization
to promote the delivery of quality health care and efficient use of
resources.25. Establishes standards to maintain the efficient
operation of a full service Imaging Services Department by
compiling statistics, preparing reports, and other documentation.
Keeps abreast of trends and developments in the fields of medicine
management and technological advancements.26. Ensures that all
Imaging Services Department staff expedites consumer service in a
courteous, professional, and time-efficient manner by monitoring
availability of services, time management studies, employee
evaluations, and controlling staffing patterns for a 24-hour per
day full services Imaging Services Department. Any combination of
education and experience that would likely provide the required
knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any
required licenses or certifications is qualifying. MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS: Required Education: Associate or Bachelor Degree
from Accredited Radiologic Technology programPreferred Education:
Bachelor Degree in Radiologic TechnologyRequired Experience:
Minimum 5 years experience in multiple-modalities as well as PACS
administration. Must have CT as part of modality
experience.Preferred Experience: As above, plus Credentialed EPIC
trainer.Required Licenses/Certifications: Possession of a valid
certificate as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the State of
California Department of Health Services, (CA RT (R), and
California Fluoroscopy permit. Certification from the American
Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT (R)), CT Certification
with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT (CT)),
Credentialed EPIC trainer, Current Basic Life Support
CertificationPreferred Licenses/Certifications: As above plus
Certified PACS Associate (CPAS), Certified DICOM Integration
Professional (CDIP), and Certified PACS System Analyst (CPSA).
