The Construction Inspectors' primary responsibility is to
inspect to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
Wastewater Construction Inspectors provide on-site field inspection
of contract construction work related to wastewater collection,
treatment plants, pumping stations and reclamation facilities.
Principle areas of concern are: large diameter sewer pipelines,
above ground piping, placement of structural concrete, mechanical
pumping systems, electrical equipment and systems, instrumentation
and control, methods of soil compaction, and paving practices.
Typical duties may include:
- Reviewing specifications, drawings, schedules, and inspecting
- Inspecting installation and construction of pipelines, HVAC,
earthwork, structural concrete, mechanical pumping plants,
construction fittings and materials, welding, concrete, paving,
compaction, coatings and linings, and excavations.
- Scheduling multiple required project inspections and
- Reviewing submittals such as Material Safety Data Sheets,
excavation permits, shop drawings, etc.
- Preparing electronic daily inspection reports and documenting
work in progress.
- Reviewing as-built drawings. The salary range is $8,370 per
month, increasing to $8,789, $9,228, $9,689, and $10,173 after 6,
18, 30, and 42 months, respectively. EBMUD offers an excellent

Completion of the twelfth grade or its equivalent, and either: 2a.
Two years of responsible field experience, inspecting and approving
construction work, including reinforced concrete and underground
pipelines, OR 2b. Two years of responsible shop experience,
inspecting and approving the fabrication of construction materials
such as steel reservoirs, steel pipelines, and batching of
concrete, OR 2c. Three years of related experience in shop
inspection or underground pipeline construction, field recording or
investigation of pipeline, or other related experience. 3.
Possession of a California driver's license and satisfactory
driving record. 4. Willingness to work outdoors under a variety of
climatic and geographic conditions, to perform inspections in
confined spaces, to work long and unusual hours when required, to
travel out of the area to overnight in-plant inspections, to work
overtime as needed. 5. Possession of the physical characteristics
to perform the critical and important duties of the job, including
sufficient physical agility to climb into trenches and to the top
of equipment, tanks, and other structures. Submit a completed EBMUD
