We do this by conducting market research, assessing risk, developing strategies, and conducting experiments to test strategies with our clients. We work with companies that embrace the reality that is coming.As Principal Policy Consultant, you will guide and oversee policy and regulatory research for DNV's Markets & Risk service area, support DNV's influential portfolio of clients on advancing equitable distribution of clean energy benefits and build a coalition of engaged energy professionals tackling complex energy challenges.This position may be based out of any of DNV's continental U.S. offices, and could be a remote position based from any location in the continental U.S. (except Colorado).What You'll Do Work closely with DNV's Head of Section of Markets to develop the team's policy strategy Guide and support policy and regulatory research in DNV's Energy Systems North America region Create business standard, practice, resources and tools for policy and regulatory research in DNV's Energy System North America region Mentor, guide, and develop policy analysts, monitor, and direct their workflow Provide research and insight on emerging energy topics and issues, most notably on environmental justice, climate justice, and energy equity Support the research and policy needs of DNV clients Ensure all policy and regulatory research products are high quality, effective, and timely; work with other team members to effectively ensure all DNV products meet high standards of accuracy Collaborate with DNV staff on other teams to understand their research needs and find opportunities for collaboration, innovation and developing creative solutions to customer challenges Collaborate with other areas of the business to deliver integrated services such as integrating policy and regulatory research with market sizing and technical assessment of energy products and technologies Work with the Markets team to generate ideas for persuasive thought leadership content and contribute to the development of those products including reports, white papers, blogs, and op-eds Act as a public spokesperson for DNV representing the organization at conferences and other public speaking venues Develop initiatives and partnerships to engage and influence leading energy companies in coalition building to solve complex energy challenges Perform other duties as assignedPosition QualificationsWhat is Required Minimum 7 years of work experience in policy design and evaluation, market or customer research, or policy support is required Minimum 5 years of experience in the policy or regulatory field, specifically advising on energy matters. Plus, if you've worked in public policy research, especially in a political, legislative or campaign context Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree or emphasis in a relevant discipline (e.g., sociology, political science, public policy, law, economics, etc.) preferred Comfortable with conducting research, analyzing, and translating policy and regulation research jargon into plain language Excellent writer with an eye toward overall quality control Effective coalition builder, mentor, and leader Accustomed to multi-tasking and working under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment Well organized and pay attention to details Creative problem-solver with ability to see around corners Committed to a just and inclusive energy economy that delivers opportunity and dignity to all Americans Display keen understanding of broader societal and policy trends in energy, climate, and sustainability Experience with developing and managing integrated communications campaigns Strong strategic thinker with understanding of how larger economic and public policy landscape impacts clients' businesses; creativity to develop new tactics and storylines Ambition for sourcing and/or successfully leading efforts to obtain new business Deeply familiar with the progressive economic policymaking community Policy chops, research skills, coalition building talent, and creative vision Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; comfortable communicating with team members with different cultural backgrounds and experience Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and have a positive, team-oriented attitude and professional demeanor Willingness and ability to travel, up to 5% of the time Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to rent and drive a car to travel on public conveyances when required Physical Requirements- sit/stand for prolonged periods of time We conduct pre-employment drug and background screeningNote: Please submit a cover letter with your resume that details your specific knowledge in the areas of energy markets, policies, and regulation as well as your strengths relative to the other requirements (required)Immigration-related employment benefits, for example visa sponsorship, are not available for this positionHow We Do ItWe Care, We Dare, We ShareOur mission is to safeguard life, property, and the environment.
